lose_baby_weightHere at Lose Baby Weight HQ we love giving you lots of healthy tips.
And since Christmas is just around the corner, we thought we would give you 20 ways that you can get fit, healthy and happy before the man in the red suit comes to town.
Christmas and the weeks leading up to it can be a minefield when you are trying to lose weight.
Invitations to parties, drinks and BBQ’s abound and it can be easy to say ‘yes’ to everything (including second helpings and a bit too much wine).
So check out our tips to help you navigate your way through the hectic November/December period with your health and wellness goals in check.

  • watch your portion sizes – we can tend to overindulge when eating with large groups of people so keep that in the back of your mind
  • chop and prep loads of fruit for your smoothies and freeze in zip lock bags
  • always have healthy snacks on hand – we love these Coconut and Apricot Protein Balls
  • stock the fridge with sparkling water and keep plenty of lemons and limes on hand to squeeze into it
  • resist the urge to buy unhealthy desserts ‘because it’s Christmas’ – encourage the family to enjoy other treats like in-season peaches, plums and mangoes in a healthy fruit salad with passionfruit on top
  • whenever you find a 15 minute window, pop the Healthy Mummy Post Pregnancy Workout DVD on and do a quick workout
  • don’t know which cereal to buy, or whether protein bars are actually good for you? Check out our handbag-sized Calorie Bible for loads of tips, advice and of course, calories of popular foods
  • plan for some nights off in the kitchen. Try cooking up some double batches of your favourite meals and freezing them for another night. We love recipes like this Slow Cooker Biryani and these Greek Lamb Burgers
  • prioritise your exercise – it’s a must if you want to improve your fitness. Get the kids involved – go for a walk, a family bike ride or just run around like mad at the park
  • buy yourself a Christmas present! Our Summer Cookbook is packed with new smoothie recipes, as well as healthy meals and snacks that you can enjoy over the festive season (plus there’s even a 3 day cleanse plan to try post-holiday)
  • friends dropping round for afternoon tea? It doesn’t have to always be a sweet option. These Pesto, Spinach and Ricotta Rolls are delicious and are so fast to make
  • treat the kids (and yourself) to these Mango Lime & Strawberry Icy Poles – packed with real fruit, they are refreshing and healthy too
  • get swimsuit ready by tucking into foods that are known to reduce tummy bloat – think nuts, parsley, broccoli, apples and fish oils
  • need to get up and out of the house early? Try making these 3 ingredient Overnight Oats in a travel mug. Then you can just get up and go!
  • if you find it hard to resist sweet treats after dinner, why not treat yourself to some portion controlled goodies such as the Healthy Mummy Dark Chocolate Treats (they come in mint or almond)
  • don’t let your healthy habits fall by the wayside over the holiday season. Try this in-season Healthy Mummy Smoothie: blend 1 scoop of Vanilla Healthy Mummy Smoothie powder, ½ a frozen banana, 10 fresh blueberries or raspberries, 200ml skim milk, 1 tbsp yoghurt, 1 tsp honey and cinnamon to taste.
  • don’t let a bad day turn into a bad week – if you have a slip off remember that tomorrow is another day to get back on track
  • planning a BBQ? It doesn’t have to be all sausages and chops. These Honey and Soy Glazed Salmon Fillets work well on the BBQ and you don’t need any sauces or sachets for the marinade – it’s all homemade
  • take it easy on the alcohol – try to alternate with water to keep yourself hydrated and in control
