This month we continue to be motivated by the weight loss journey of Motivating Mum Chaye Challacombe. Chaye has lost over 24 kilograms so far with Lose Baby Weight and you can read some of her previous posts here and here.
Over to you now Chaye…
‘Hi everyone!
Well it has been a fairly busy week for me this week, with birthdays and celebrations all weekend.
This meant that I could not stick to the 28 Day Plan as much as I usually would have, as I was not home for all of my main meals like usual.
But I have learned enough from Lose Baby Weight now that I think I picked the better options for myself.

We went to a BBQ lunch over the weekend. BBQ’s aren’t traditionally completely healthy.

When I used to go to a BBQ I would eat fatty sausages, creamy cheesy potato bake and creamy pasta bake etc.
On the weekend I chose to eat a steak, which I cut all the fat from and a heap of green leafy salad.
I also resisted from having any birthday cake!
Changing your lifestyle to a healthier one does not mean that you should need to stay home and only eat food from your plan.
You can still socialise and eat out; it’s all about learning to pick the better options.
I have been thinking a lot this week about my weight loss journey so far.
All too often, all we talk about is what we have lost – kgs, cms etc.
So I started thinking about what I have gained instead.

  • I have gained confidence in myself, something that I have not had for many years now.
  • I have gained knowledge.
  • I have learned so much about the importance of healthy eating and exercise, and how to make good choices.
  • I have gained the feeling of accomplishment.
  • I have gained acceptance and support from an amazing bunch of people at Lose Baby Weight and on the Facebook page. I can’t tell you what it means to me to see your kind comments on my posts.
  • I have gained opportunities – such as this amazing opportunity to be a Motivating Mum.
  • I have gained fitness – while a small amount so far, I am so much fitter than before.
  • I have gained a healthy and happy future.

There is so much to be grateful for and I think sometimes we focus so much on just losing weight that we don’t see what we have gained instead.

This week I did not have a huge loss on the scales. I only lost 300g, but none the less it is still a loss.I am at the end of my weight loss journey almost and it is getting harder to lose the bigger numbers that I used to. This just means that I have a bigger challenge to face to get down to my desired weight, and I am definitely up for the challenge.I am going to keep increasing my exercise and intensity the best I can.I am going to keep a closer eye on my calorie intake and have recalculated my BMR as I am smaller now and my activity level is higher than it used to be when I last calculated it.
I am also going to start drinking green tea again as it is great for boosting metabolism.
healthy_eatingOnce again I have eaten lots of yummy meals from the 28 Day Plan.
My favourite for the week was definitely the marinated lamb with grilled vegetables.
I have this meal regularly, it is definitely a favourite in this house.
I also enjoyed the Chicken and Chorizo Pasta from the Lose Baby Weight website.
I have been trying new Healthy Mummy Smoothies throughout the week again also. I have discovered a couple more that I really loved.
healthy_eatingThe oaty, almond, pear and honey smoothie is really yummy, has a nice sweet taste. Different from my usual berry smoothies.
One of my goals for last week was to do some healthy baking to try to get my son to eat healthier and find some new snacks for myself also.
We cooked a honey oat slice and ham, spinach, cheese and zucchini muffins.
They were both very tasty and my son enjoyed them also.
We will be trying to bake something healthy and new each week.
healthy_eatingOne of the best ways to get kids to embrace healthy food is to get them involved in the kitchen.
My goals for the next week are:

  • Start drinking green tea again to help boost metabolism
  • Lose at least 500g
  • Try some new forms of exercise so I don’t get bored with my current routine

My measurements:

  • Weight – 71.5kg (down 300g)
  • Once again I will update cm’s next week as I do them fortnightly.

Have a great week everyone!
Try thinking about what you have gained, or what you might gain from your own weight loss journey.’
