You’ve taken the first step

Well done for being on the Lose Baby Weight website or for buying some of our fantastic health and weight loss products. You’ve already got yourself into the mindset of wanting to lose weight. For many people that’s the hardest part.
Now all you need to do is actually start. The best advice we can give is to ease yourself into it.
There’s no point going from zero to a 10km run on your first day. Go for a nice walk, plan to cook a healthy meal for the evening (the 28 Day Plan is full of recipes, or you can grab our one of our recipe books for ideas).
Read some of our inspirational stories from other mums who have already lost their baby weight. You might find that some of their stories are similar to yours.
Connect with us or others on our Facebook page and ask any questions that you like, our team are here to help.
And take part in our free Energy Boosting challenge which starts in May for support and extra help.
Here are some extra tips to help you on your weight loss journey.  Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 3.40.01 PM

1. Get rid of the junk

First, clear out the kitchen of unhealthy foods so that you aren’t tempted. It’s much easier to resist a chocolate biscuit if there isn’t one staring at your every time you open the pantry cupboard.
Next, fill your kitchen with fresh, healthy foods that you can use to make healthy meals and snacks for yourself and your family. The 28 Day Plan has shopping lists that will show you what you should get.
Be sure to let others around you know that you are going to be eating healthy food so that they can be supportive of the new you.  Here are some extra tips on kicking a junk food habit.

2. Take one day at a time

Remember that this is a complete lifestyle change. It’s not a 4-week cabbage soup diet, but a whole new way of eating and exercising.
So if you slip up in any way, remember that it’s OK. You are human and it does take time to make big changes to your lifestyle.
Keep in mind that tomorrow is another day, and it’s another chance to start afresh.
Start your day with one of our Healthy Mummy Smoothies. They’re delicious, good for you, and will fill you right up. Available in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.  There are endless combinations to try and here are 13 of our top smoothie tips to try.

3.  Give yourself some tools for measurement

You might not feel like taking a photo of yourself in your underwear right now, but please do it. Believe that in a few months time when you take another photo, you will see a big difference to your shape.
Also take the time to take your measurements and write them down. This is another great tool for those times when the scales may not be moving as much as you’d like – you’ll often find that you are still losing centimetres as you are toning up. Here’s some advice on how to measure yourself properly.

4. Increase your exercise gradually

Over time you can start to push yourself more with exercise. Start with walking, and then try out some of the exercises on our 28 Day Plan.
You might also find the new Healthy Mummy Post Pregnancy Exercise DVD is another great option. Many of our mums find that their kids want to join in!
One of the best things about the DVD is that it’s broken up in to 15 minute blocks (because we understand that finding an hour of uninterrupted time to exercise is pretty much impossible when you have kids around!).

5. Avoid any triggers for poor choices

If you have a certain something that you find hard to resist, do your best to avoid it. So if you always (used to) grab a muffin with your morning coffee, be sure to have your Healthy Mummy Smoothie or other healthy breakfast before you hit the café.
If you always (used to) grab a bag of chips when you fill the car with petrol, pack an apple or some nuts in your bag so that you know you have a healthy snack waiting for you in the car.
If Friday night is (or used to be) fish and chip night, plan a really special family dinner for Friday so that no one feels as though they are missing out. It’s all about being prepared.

6.  Don’t let yourself go hungry

In our 28 Day Plan we explain that you need to be eating 3 meals and 2 snacks per day in order to lose weight. This is really important. Please don’t skip meals or snacks, or let yourself feel hungry, and think that you are going to lose weight faster. It just doesn’t happen that way.
Our body needs fuel throughout the day, and by eating regular healthy meals you will (in time) improve your metabolism – which will help your body to burn fat.
Good luck and don’t forget we’re here to help if you need anything.
