1. Make breakfast a priority

What you eat and when you eat it plays an important role in turning food into fuel.Making healthy food choices is important, as is making sure you eat regularly. Eating irregularly or severely limiting your calorie intake sends you body into survival mode, causing your metabolism to slow riiiiiiiight down, to conserve as much energy as possible. Your metabolism will also wind down while you sleep at night, meaning that a healthy breakfast is essential for kick starting things of a morning. 2. Become snack savvy

In the same way your body winds down over night, it also slows down if you go too long without eating. A healthy snack between main meals provides the right kind of fuel to keep the fire nicely burning, as opposed to swinging between roaring flames and being totally extinguished. Choosing the right foods to enjoy is important, as high calorie, unhealthy options will be burnt through quickly, leaving you craving more and your body wondering what on earth is going on. 3. Add some metabolism charging foods

Certain foods have been found to give your metabolism a shot in the arm. Adding a couple to your diet is an easy way to complement the rest of your healthy diet and exercise plan. Try one of these on your plate:

4. Strap on your sneakers
