Hi Mummies  my name is Mel, I’m 32 and a stay at home mum of 4 kids. My eldest is 13, 10, 2 and 7 months is you youngest.
I had been having issues with my weight since falling pregnant with my first child. I started at 58 kilos and during this pregnancy I was diagnosed with galls stones after a hard pregnancy I was induced and post pregnancy I weighed in at 85 kilos.  After many years of ups and downs I went on and had 3 more Children. I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes with my last child so I was monitored on what I ate and had to test my sugar levels 3 times a day.
After being induced at 38 weeks and two months post pregnancy I weighed in at 90 kilos. This is was sign that it was time to change.  So I decided to do something about it. I joined the Facebook group and started following the July 28 Day Challenge watching what was happening and followed the first Challenge in July.
After following the group I decided to joined the September Challenge and although I didn’t exercise as much I still managed to lose 4 kilos, followed by 2 kilos in October, another 4 kilos in November  December was a busy month with my birthday and Christmas, I was horrified and quiet disappointed in myself and that I had gained 1.5 kilos.  In January I decided  it was a “New Year and a New Me”. I needed to focus on me a little bit more as I was feeling quiet down and out about my weight again. As of the end of February I am down another 3.5 kilos.
I get so excited when a new challenge starts and the plans come out and I love how we can customize the plans to suit our needs and we can pick and choose. Lately we have been having the Sweet Honey Chicken with Veges or any of the stirfrys and the Banana Cinnamon Microwave Cake.
I have been so used to snacking throughout the day that I don’t sit down to a proper meal as I always use the excuse that I am too busy, or if I am in a rush I would grab some quick take away for the family. We no longer do this and if we eat out it is usually healthy choices now. I no longer have soft drink daily and have substitute these for an iced tea, green tea or a infused water. Coke is no longer apart of my daily intake and hasn’t been for a few months now.
I have tried all types of diets and to lose weight and FAILED each time. I try not to look at this as a diet but as a Healtier way of eating. I can now explain to my kids what is in their food and know what they are getting is health for them.
I am now more active then I have ever been, no longer a couch potato. I love that I am exercising regularly and can now run 2.5km without feeling like I want to keel over and choke so this is an achievement.  I am doing boot camp 3 nights a week which I love and this is also helping me achieve my goal of competeing in the Kryptonite Challenge. Many people from our Bootcamp across town have joined together and are going as a group. I have also just signed up to start doing a metafit class which I know is going to be pretty intense the first few times.
I’m very excited about the Pilates in the March Challenge as I have never done Pilates before so it’s a new experience for me.
I’m a huge fan of the Healthy Mummy/ Lose Baby Weight Facebook page.  The positive ways all mummies help each other and boost one another’s confidence. To read all the success stories as well as to be able to go on this journey with all of you is an incredible experience. However I also enjoy all the yummy foods posted by other mummies and I love cooking from the Challenge menu.
I have stopped looking at this as a way to lose weight and now look at it as I am becoming a happier, healthier and more active me. I believe in take progress shots and measurements over weighing myself, that way I can go back and look at them to see the difference and how far I have come. The scales may not go down but I see the difference in the cm’s.
I have a mini goal of reaching 68 kilos by my daughters first birthday in July. I aim for 500g a week and to complete all 3 boot camp session each week. I also aim to complete the Tone Your Butt and Thigh Challenge.
Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything
Cheers
