Every month, a mum who is on the Lose Baby Weight plans will be writing about their journey, exercise, ups and downs and will be here to help motivate YOU and THEMSELVES along the way.

This month Emilley Kingsman is jumping on board as a Motivating Mum and so far Emilley has lost a HUGE 17kg!. Emilley says she hopes to motivate some other mums while keeping herself motivated at the same time.
‘Hi ladies, my name is Emilley and I am incredibly excited to have been chosen as a Motivating Mum for the month of June!
My journey with Lose Baby Weight started in October 2012, when my son was 3 months old.
I decided it was time to get on the scales and see where I was at. I was shocked!
I didn’t realise that I had gained so much pregnancy weight throughout my pregnancy.
Not long after falling pregnant, I cancelled my gym membership and somewhere in those 9 months, my portion sizes started getting way too big.
I also gave into temptation far too easily. I was pregnant, I could do what I wanted…right? If only I knew then what I know now!
After that first weigh-in, I came across the Lose Baby Weight Facebook page and website.
As a breastfeeding mum, I wanted to make sure that anything I did wasn’t going to jeopardise my milk supply.
I read the amazing stories written by other inspiring mums, and was completely motivated to take the first step. Hopefully I can return the favour this month!
I started off by incorporating the Healthy Mummy Smoothies into my diet and I loved trying new combinations of ingredients!
I then moved on to the 28 Day Plan, which has continued to be my go-to guide every time I feel that I am getting off track.
I truly believe that sometimes the first step can be the hardest! So I commend everyone who has decided to take that step and work towards being the best that they can be.
Fast forward for 7 months and I am proud to say that I have lost 17.3kg and a grand total of 58.5cm!
I have 5kg to go until I reach my goal weight of 65kg. It feels so close, yet so far!
Once I reach that I’d like to lose another 3kg, simply because I am determined!
My son is now 10 months old and is still happily breastfeeding a few times each day.
My fertility also seems to have improved with my increased exercise, so hopefully when we decide that we are ready to try for a second baby it will be an easier process than the first time.
Over the past 7 months, I have re-educated myself on what is healthy for my body, including nutrition and correct portion size, exercise and fitness, and overall wellbeing.
The positive changes I have seen in not only myself, but also in my family, have made it all worth it!
As a full-time uni student, stay-at-home-mum and helping my husband to run his own business (he also has a full-time job outside of his business!) I understand that time is precious.
I used to make endless excuses for not exercising or making healthy meals each night, and not having enough time was one excuse that I cited often!
The Lose Baby Weight exercise tips and ideas were such a good starting point when learning how to fit exercise into my life.
When you haven’t been active for a long time, exercise feels like such a chore. But once you get going, you start to enjoy it, and you feel completely out of sorts if you have a day of being inactive!
Being active doesn’t have to mean being a super athlete. Being active can be something as simple as a brisk walk around the block!
The key is to take it one day at a time, and always aim to do that little bit more than what you did the day before.
I hope to use my next few blog posts to try and motivate other mums to make allowances for their health, to make time even when you think you have none, to make it a priority.
You only get one body and you can’t trade it in, so we all need to learn to love our body enough to want to treat it right and lead a healthy lifestyle.
I’m finding this last 5kg to be the hardest to lose.
So this month, I’m planning on getting even closer to that 65kg mark.
I also have non-scale victories that I would like to reach, as I think it’s important to remember that the scales are not the only place where we can be seeing results.
My goals for June are:
- To lose 5kg and reach my 65kg goal weight, and lose more centimetres
- To walk a total of 50km in June, with my son and dog in tow (originally I had 40km written here, but I decided to push myself and make it a scary-sounding 50!)
- To step out of my comfort zone and prepare for the 10km obstacle race I will be taking part in at the start of July
- To keep a food diary every day
- To plan dinners for the week ahead, using the 28 Day Plan, and to stick to it!
- Find some new favourite smoothie recipes
