Hi ladies! My name is Crystle McBride and I am a full time student (AIN in the making yay!) and mummy to a beautiful 5 year old named Luke.
I have lost a total of 47 kgs with the aid of The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight loss Challenges as well as the smoothies, books, DVD and use of the website!
I am also lucky enough to be one of your Motivating Mums this August.
My weight loss journey started for me in February 2015 when I was 24. I remember being very anxious and depressed for many years. I gained the majority of my weight just after my son was born in 2011 when I was around 21. I remember at one point reaching around 130kgs. That was a point where my head was telling me there was never going to be a better future for me or my body. I thought people would have to just deal with the way I was and I would have to learn to cope at living life as a bigger person.
I mean it sucked. Constantly going up in dress sizes, I got up to a size 26. Finding places that stocked clothes that size was very difficult. It was stressful! I ate on average 2-3 fast food meals per day. Yes, per day! I would hardly cook from home let alone leave home or the lounge. I was extremely lazy. Had constant panic/anxiety attacks and was constantly down. For many years I never did anything to try and better mine or my son’s future.
Fast forward to last year in late January when I was invited onto the Healthy Mummy private group by a family friend. I thought this was just one of those typical fad diet type pages with paid actors to show their journeys and then people wasting their money on stuff that wouldn’t work. I was wrong! So very wrong!
As I familiarised myself with the page and other mothers’ journeys, I saw that they were real mums, with real stories and real weight loss!
A lot of mums started out around my size and had lost enormous amounts of weight using the Challenges and products as well as the free recipes. I was amazed! So I did a bit of research, figured out my BMI and BMR using the tools on the Healthy Mummy website and decided to join the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge.
Come 1 February 2015, my journey began. I went cold turkey with EVERYTHING! Fast foods, sugary drinks, sweets, nearly every bad food under the sun! I prepped my meals using the Challenge recipes and started a very slow journey into exercise. I was walking 1km at snail pace on my sister’s treadmill for around 2 months, then, as I kept doing the right thing by eating well and regular exercise, my ability to cope with longer distances and speed got easier and the dress sizes went down.
I didn’t eat anything outside of home for about 4 months. I slowly started having a cheat day here and there because to be honest, it’s hard to just give up everything, moderation is the key.
Fast forward 18 months and I have gone from 122kgs to 75kgs, which at that point last year was my main goal.
I walk between 4-7 kms 3-4 days a week and am now going to the gym 1-2 days a week trying to tone my body and get rid of the tummy hang! I really want to be around 60-65kgs and I won’t give up until I get there. I tell myself if I can get through the darkest of days in the beginning of last year, then I can smash the last 10-15kgs to get to my happy medium!
I can do this and SO CAN YOU! I wish you all the best on your journey, you will rock it just as I’m rocking it! Xxx
