Hi my name is Mel and I have been one of the Motivating Mums this past month. First I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed talking with you all and sharing my experience. I have loved reading all your wonderful comments but most of all loved doing the best I can to inspire you all. Not only have I enjoyed telling my own story but have totally enjoyed reading about everyone else’s success, we are just one big bunch of wonderful inspiring women and that’s what I love about this program, I’ve never felt alone in my journey. I hope I get to do this again someday!
I’ll be honest; this month has been a pretty stressful one for me which, I think, has resulted in no weight lost for the month. But I have decided to wipe my slate clean and start the September 28 Day Challenge with a fresh mind. I have my past Motivating Mum blogs as well as before and after pictures printed out and stuck on my cupboard to remind myself how far I have come and to not give up.
I have 4kg to go to get to my goal of 62kg and I’m so excited to see what the challenge has in store for me as this will be my first one. I can’t wait to be a part of this challenge with thousands of other mums; The Healthy Mummy & Lose Baby Weight Support Group is just the best support network you could ever find!
Overall, since the start of my journey in April 2013, I still can’t believe how much my life has changed. I feel so much more confident, energetic and I have this new found love of life. I love that Lose Baby Weight has taught me a whole new way to cook, and I love to cook! I never buy pre-packaged or premade meals now and feel so much better for it. Especially knowing that I’m feeding my 3 year old son healthy, wholesome meals and I know exactly what has gone into them, but best of all I can keep up with him on the footy field – haha!
I get out of bed every morning and exercise first thing, either a walk/jog or a bike session followed by a routine from the 28 Day Diet & Exercise Plan. I almost always have a smoothie for breakfast and I love experimenting with new flavours. I’ve managed to come up with a few shockers too!
I have a mid morning snack followed by a walk around the block (weather permitting) before lunch. Lunch is a Healthy Mummy Smoothie or something from the 28 Day Diet and Exercise Plan or website. I love a cup of green tea with a treat from the Guilt Free Chocolate & Baking Book for my afternoon tea. If time permits before dinner I’ll do a couple of sessions from the Healthy Mummy Post Pregnancy Exercise DVD.
I just love the recipes from the Lose Baby Weight website and have them for dinner religiously, best of all I think they are very adaptable and child friendly, my son loves just about everything I cook! I usually enjoy a bowl of greek yogurt with berries or a bit of dark chocolate as an after dinner snack.
If there’s one thing I have learnt on my journey, it’s that not every day goes to plan, but you can’t beat yourself up because it’s perfectly normal. I don’t deprive myself of ‘bad foods’ because I just know it will make me want it more. I know that moderation is the key and the occasional treat won’t hurt me, but I know that I love my new healthy lifestyle more and I will never go back to the way I was.
So ladies, don’t be upset about a bad day because each new day comes with a fresh start. Never doubt yourself, the first step to success is believing in yourself and believing you deserve it. I always remind myself why I started my journey in the first place – to be happy and healthy and be the absolute best role model and person I can be for my baby boy. If I don’t look after myself, how am I meant to take care of anyone else?
Thanks for having me mummies, keep up the good work and bring on the September 28 Day Challenge!!
