Getting that sweet fix at that same time as staying on track with your weight loss can be hard. After all, we all crave something after lunch or dinner, or a little sweet snack to get us through the afternoon lull and lift our energy. And it’s really easy to slip into the habit of snacking on something unhealthy a bit too often. That’s why healthy recipes like this one from Jessica Beckwith (@jessta20) are a brilliant way to get that sweet fix without derailing your healthy eating progress. Jessica’s delicious oat and honey slice is a wonderful recipe that utilises natural ingredients and can be used as a healthy snack on one of the Lose Baby Weight Plans.

Quick and easy to make, and by using oats in your slice, you’re getting a fantastic source of fibre, B vitamins and beta-glucan (a type of soluble fibre that can help reduce cholesterol re-absorption and lower your risk of heart disease). They are literally one of nature’s super-foods and are an excellent ingredient to include in filling, healthy snacks. The honey gives the slice a naturally sweet flavour, but since it’s a natural combination of glucose and fructose, it takes longer to digest than ordinary sugar, with a low to medium GI depending on the type of honey you choose to use – a yellowbox honey will usually have a lower GI than a commercially blended honey, so they are a good place to start if you don’t know which option to go for in the supermarket.
