If you take a read of the nutritional content on the back of a commercial chocolate dipping sauce you will be horrified to see it contains on average over 300 calories and 18 grams of fat per serve!
The good news is that this yummy and healthy recipe alternative contains just 70 calories per serve, it’s fast and easy to make, and uses ingredients you will most likely already have in your home.
This healthy recipe uses raw cacao because of its full flavor and being jam packed with anti-oxidants, which help protect your body from damage caused by free radicals. It’s also low GI with some research even suggesting it’s a mood enhancer and possible aphrodisiac……
The difference between raw cacao and traditional cocoa is really in its preparation as cacao tends to use raw beans (thus retaining more nutrients) and cocoa tends to use roasted beans. Both options are suitable for this recipe, although it’s best to try and use the purest form to avoid added ‘extras’, often including sugar.
Serving up with whatever fruit you have in the house increases the nutrition and fibre content.
The quantities below are a personal preference, but can be made sweeter by adding more honey, or stronger by adding more cacao.

Ingredients
- ¼ cup reduced fat Greek Yoghurt
- ¼ tsp vanilla essence
- 2 tsp raw cacao powder
- 2 tsp honey
Method
Combine all ingredients and mix well.
Serve immediately with any fruit, or refrigerate for up to 24hours.
Increase the quantities according to the number of people.
