weight loss and coconut oil

There are a number of reasons that coconut oil is now being widely recommended as a healthy ingredient for cooking and adding to your current diet.

  • Its potent health profile. Coconut oil is reported to have a positive impact on weight loss, heart health, thyroid function, the immune system and skin and hair health. It’s also antibacterial, Antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic meaning it provides an effective defence against bacterial, viral and fungal infection.
  • Its nutrient profile. Coconut oil consists of medium-chain-fatty-acids which can speed up metabolism. This is because they are easily absorbed by the body and converted into energy and is the reason coconut oil is linked to weight loss, despite the fact that it is high in calories.
  • Its high smoke point. Many oils become rancid when heated to a high temperature. This in turn impacts the food being cooked. Coconut oil has a very high smoke point meaning it remains nutritionally stable even when very hot, making it ideal for stir fry and other methods of cooking which require a high heat.

There are literally hundreds of ways to include coconut oil (in moderation) in your diet. There are however even more ways to use this little miracle substance in and around your home and for the overall health and wellness of your family.

Here are some of our favourite ways to use it:
