
When we ‘break out’ in pimples or blackheads it could be attributed to a number of reasons, such as liver health, diet, stress, bowel health, kidney waste, digestion, immunity or hormonal balance.
These are the reasons behind facial breakouts according to Chinese herbal medicine:
Forehead
- Too much refined sugar in the diet – drink less soft drink and use stevia or xylitol in your beverages
- Lack of sleep – try to get 8 hours every night
- Toxin build up – drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out
- Stress – get out for a brisk walk, take a boxing class
- Keep a daily food diary to see if your acne is related to certain food groups
- Change shampoos, conditioners, and hair products to organic and paraben-free
Temples
- Avoid processed food, junk food, fast food, saturated or hydrogenated fats
- Eat cooling foods like cucumbers
- Practice better hygiene, especially during the summer and if you wear makeup and/or sweat a lot

- Smoking and alcohol consumption include possible causes

- Lower left cheek acne could represent poor dental health, so keep your gums and teeth healthy by flossing and brushing regularly

- Avoid fast food, junk food and sugar
- Avoid mango, wine, and seafood
- The lung is strongest at 7-9 AM. This is the best time for aerobic exercise.
