Tina has been on the Lose Baby Weight plans for 5 weeks now and has lost 7kg. She has kindly shared her weight loss story below for us and we can’t wait to hear how she goes in the next couple of months too 🙂
Tina’s Journey
“I’ve been big most of my life but it wasn’t until I started having children that the weight piled on. I was so busy raising my family that I didn’t take care of myself.
I stopped and started “weight loss missions” over the years and at one point I managed to lose 20kg but sure enough, I lost motivation and piled those 20kg, plus a lot more, back on and hitting my heaviest weight ever this year at 130.3kg.
I remember the day I stepped on my scales and saw that number. I was gutted. And it also reminded me of when I first saw that I was 99kg and how I thought that I would never ever let myself go over 100.
But I did.
And it was thought of knowing that I would be 40 in two years time, and how my ankles and knees were continuously in pain, and how another Summer went by and I spent it making excuses as to why I wouldn’t get into the pool with my kids, that I realised that if I don’t do this now – once and for all – I would never do it and I would hate myself for it for the rest of my life.
I had come across the Lose Baby Weight Facebook page a while ago and while I “liked” it, I didn’t think that it would be much help to me because I don’t think I can call it “baby weight” any more. My children are aged 20, 19, 16, 11 and 5. They’re not babies any more. I can’t blame the weight on those pregnancies!
But after having a look around the website, checking out the plans available and chatting with Rhian, I learned that the program would work for me too. It would just take longer.
I’ve been on the Lose Baby Weight program for 5 weeks now. It took a little time to get used to making and drinking the smoothies for breakfast and lunch.
I think it all comes down to mind space. I found that by getting up an hour or so before the rest of the family start waking up, I can have my smoothie and do 30 minutes on the Wii Fit Plus, and then I feel ready for what I call “morning madness!”.
My exercise routine includes not only the 30 minute Wii Fit Plus 3 times a week, I also do 2 PT sessions a week and go swimming twice a week – on a side note, I used to struggle swimming one lap of the pool and call it a day but now I can swim six laps with little breaks in between. Small steps, people!
I don’t always have a smoothie for lunch. On the days that I don’t, I usually choose sushi or a salad sandwich or I go to Subway and order one of their low-fat 6inch subs. For dinner, it’s usually a grilled piece of chicken, or lean steak with stir-fry vegies. I’m slowly working through the recipes in the 28 Day (Breast feeding friendly) diet and exercise book too.
I’m pleased to say that since starting my mission to lose the lard, in five weeks, I have lost 7.1kg and 18cm! I am currently weighing in at 123.2kg and I still have a long way to go to reach my 65kg goal weight. But I know that if I continue with the Lose Baby Weight program and exercising regularly, I can do this.
And if I can do this, you sure as hell can too.
I will blog here again in a couple months time to update how I am going but in the meantime, I am blogging my journey regularly on my blog, Tina Gray {dot} Me if you want to find out how I’m going.
