Hi my name is Tawhai Dinsdale and I am extremely excited and honoured to be a Motivating Mum for December. Here is a little bit about me, I am 30 years old and live in Brisbane with my Fiancée and our beautiful little girl Isabelle who is 2.5 years old. For years I have struggled with losing weight and keeping it off.
When we found out at 7 months Isabelle has a rare chromosomal syndrome – Potocki-Lupski Syndrome and then she was diagnosed with many different health conditions (We currently see 7 specialists and 3 therapists). I was so stressed and scared I was eating so much and weight started to pile on really quickly. Also because we were spending so much time at hospital appointments or admitted in hospital I wouldn’t be organised, so I would skip breakfast and just buy junk food or takeaways while we were out.
What really motivated me to start looking into losing weight was the fact we have booked our wedding for June next year and much more importantly I want to be fit and healthy to run around and play with my daughter. I want to be a good role model for her, I really don’t want to watch her grow up from the sidelines.
I knew I had to change but didn’t know where to start, it was overwhelming. That same day I saw a promotion of Lose Baby Weight on another Facebook page I follow, after browsing the website I knew I had found what was going to help me with my journey! I signed up mid August for the September 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and ordered the Healthy Mummy Smoothies straight away.
I didn’t want to lose momentum so I started having the smoothies for breakfast and using some of the many great meal recipes off the website until the challenge started. I was so excited to start the September Challenge and it didn’t disappoint me. I couldn’t and can’t believe how great, quick and tasty the meal plans were and also how time effective but challenging the challenge exercises were. I had sore muscles I didn’t even know existed!

With the November Challenge having the option to customise the meal plan and having the videos of the exercises has been fantastic. They save so much time and very user friendly.
Now I am doing the challenges I am much more organised with what we eat because all the hard work has been done. I just need to customise the meal plan if I need too (Isabelle has food allergies) and all the recipes and the shopping list are ready to go. One way to save time is we get our groceries delivered, so I just add what we need directly to the supermarket website from the challenge shopping list for delivery the next day.
One of the best things to save time and still have something healthy is I still have one of the delicious smoothies for breakfast because they are quick to prepare, nutritious and keep me fuller for longer. My favourite smoothie so far is the rock-a-melon smoothie but there are so many wonderful recipes to try, I am slowly making my way through them.
Another way to keep on track and save time is if we are going to be out all day I prepare our snacks and lunch the night before. This is so I don’t slip back into the old habits of buying takeaways.If we are going out to lunch or dinner I see if the cafe or restaurant has a menu on their website so I can see ahead of time which options would be healthier.
Following the Lose Baby Weight recipes and challenges have changed my whole outlook on healthy eating and exercise. I am never hungry and the food is amazing. I have lost 17.8kgs in 14 weeks so far and in that time my fitness is so much better – I can run 5kms on my treadmill without stopping, my confidence is coming back and my family’s is enjoying more variety in their diet. I can’t thank Lose Baby Weight enough for helping me change my life for the better.
