I’ve been a proud member of The Healthy Mummy since November 2015 weighing 75.5kgs at the start and now currently 65.8kgs.
My biggest struggle since being on the journey isn’t the food or the exercise side of it. It’s the scales and pressure I put on myself side of the journey.
This month I was proud to hit 10kgs lost. I was over the moon, but in 2 days I went back up by 1.3kgs. I was devastated and my old habits came back. I started eating late at night and it wasn’t the “right” stuff. I was eating chips, chocolate and biscuits aka all the kids’ recess treats. Deep down I knew I shouldn’t have been but I still did.
I just kept thinking that tomorrow is a new day and I will work it off at the gym. But I was pushing myself that much at the gym to work off the food I ate the night before that the next night I was back in the cupboard looking for snacks.
I did this for 3 nights and then just snapped.
I had a good cry and let all the frustration and anger out that I was feeling. The next day I decided to hide the scales out of my eye sight and not to weigh myself every day, instead once a month.
The reason I am writing this is to let you know that we will all hit our breaking point. It doesn’t matter if it’s small or huge.
All that matters is what we do afterwards that matters.
For me it was back to making the right decisions and not to let the scales run my journey.
