If you enjoy nuts as part of a healthy weight loss plan, you will love this simple recipe.
Tamari adds a lovely savoury and salty flavour to raw nuts. Tamari can be found in most supermarkets and health food stores.
These flavoured nuts can form part of a tasty Trail Mix, or can be eaten on their own as a healthy snack.
If you like you could easily make this a nut and seed mix. Just keep the total weight to 500g.
For instance you might like to do:
- 250g of mixed almonds, walnuts and cashews
- 125g pumpkin seeds
- 125g sunflower seeds
- 1/3 cup tamari
Ingredients:
- 500g raw, unsalted almonds
- 1/3 cup tamari
- Olive oil spray
Method:
- Heat your oven to 140C.
- Spray two baking trays with olive oil.
- Place the nuts into a large bowl and cover with the tamari.
- Toss to ensure an even coating and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
- Spread the nuts out evenly over the two trays and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Cool completely and store in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
- Note: if you find that the nuts have gone soft once stored, just lay them out on a baking and bake for 5-10 minutes in a 150C oven.
Makes: 20 serves of 25g (that’s about 20 almonds). Calories per serve: 150.
