Hi, my name is Sandra Gee and I am one of your Winter Warrior Motivating Mums for June. I am a 29yr old stay at home mum of my two girls aged 1 and 2 and have lost 23.5kg since April 2015 using The Healthy Mummy products and plans.
At the end of summer I reached my first major goal of hitting double digits and then I hit a plateau. Sure it has been hard to spend the last four months seeing the scales go up and down within a kilo or two, and there have been weeks on end without any changes in measurements, BUT I did not give up.
At the beginning of June I had had enough and I read all the Healthy Mummy blogs and information I could to find out what I could do to break through my plateau.
I then made an action plan.
For a few weeks now I have made sure there were no slip ups in my eating plan by preparing all snacks and healthier alternatives of sweet treats ahead of the week, and by doing big cook ups of meals to freeze in portion sizes. This has definitely removed any temptation of reaching for quick and easy fixes that would hinder my plan.
I have also changed things up physically. I have used the exercises supplied on the Challenge to create my own workout schedule, doubling up days and exercises into larger sets a few days a week. On my walking days I have introduced interval training and choosing some more challenging routes. It has taken a few weeks, but I have finally seen a drop in the scales. It may only be half a kilo, but it is a start and I am feeling more confident that these changes will get me back onto the weight loss track.
I know if it wasn’t for finding The Healthy Mummy I would never have gotten so far in my journey and I most definitely would have given up and returned to my old eating habits after a few weeks on the plateau.
I believe it is mostly because The Healthy Mummy has changed the way I think about life.
It is no longer a journey for weight loss, but a journey to a healthier lifestyle for me and my family – weight loss was just the extra benefit. So while it was frustrating to not see any changes, I knew I was still making the best choices for me and my kids by not returning to my old ways.
I may still have a long journey ahead of me, but with the support from Rhian, the Healthy Mummy team, and all of the lovely mums on the Facebook support page I know I will make it. And I am here to tell you that you can make it too. It is not one giant leap but many small steps that make the change and there is definitely no problem with a slip up here or there – you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again.
