Samantha Stevenson has lost an amazing 12kgs following the Lose Baby Weight Plans and becomes a Motivating Mum for March.sam

My name is Samantha and I am one of the March Motivating Mums (fist pump! Woop woop!!). I have been following Lose Baby Weight since July 2014.
I say July but really all I did was observe – I paid for the July 28 Day Challenge but I didn’t follow any of the meals or the exercise plans. I didn’t participate or comment on the Facebook support page. I wasn’t ready to start my journey but was deeply unhappy with how I looked and felt.
I have to admit I was jealous of the other woman who were ready and who were having a crack. I still ate the same as I did previously and I didn’t exercise at all. I purchased the Healthy Mummy DVD and it stayed in the plastic wrap for over a month. Oops.
Come the September 28 Day Weight Loss challenge – I was ready. I can’t tell you that I had a ‘light bulb moment’ All I can say is that I was ready to change my life and be accountable for how I was feeling. I participated in the challenge exercises, I made and ate some of the challenge meals and I participated in the support page. Oh, and I unwrapped the Healthy Mummy DVD and decided to actually do it!! Well, hello sweaty Sam!!! It helped me find my groove (it still makes me sweat now after 5 months).
November – I took progress photos. (I took some in September too but I deleted them the next day). I was so ashamed of how I felt when I looked at the photos, I couldn’t bare the thought of my husband finding them. I was embarrassed to have him see me naked. I was just embarrassed full stop. But I started to see my body change.  I had more energy, I interacted with the other mummas on the support page and I became accountable for my life. I followed the meal plans and did the challenge exercises. I also felt my clothes start to become lose. My body was changing and I loved it!!!!
My relationship with my body has never really been a healthy one but that doesn’t mean it has to continue that way!!  A 14 year marriage riddled with domestic violence did nothing to help me with my body issues, if anything it made me lose the person I was and accept that being an overweight, unhealthy woman was all I was ever going to be. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG!
I am a 40 year old mother of 4 kidlets (18, 15, 12  – from a previous marriage, and an 11 month old) and I am loving my life – my energy, my confidence, my enthusiasm to keep going with my health and fitness, and not to forget strutting my stuff in front of my husband. And can I tell you he has noticed too. (blush!) I don’t wear full pj’s to bed anymore, I also don’t wear frumpy clothes that make me feel 100 times worse! I have gone from a size 16-18 to a size 12 (12kg loss).

So this is what I have found works for me:

Find what you enjoy doing and keep it fun.
I love running – I’m not fast, I huff and puff like a steam train, my face is always as red as a beetroot and I sweat!. But I love it. I run with my little man and the pram and I run by myself sometimes too. I love doing strength training too as it has helped sculpt my body.
This is not a diet for me but a change to my lifestyle. The meals that are available on the website are fantastic and the challenge meals are brilliant, I have recently been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I tailor the meals to suit my needs. It’s not hard to alter the meals, but it’s necessary. My husband is not an active person at all but I don’t give up getting him to ‘try this new meal I found on Lose Baby Weight!’ He rolls his eyes, smiles at me, eats it and then tells me ‘yep, we can have that again’. WINNING!!!!!
Preparation is the key – whether it be your workout clothes laid out the night before you go to bed, or preparing your lunch and snacks for the next day.
Enjoy yourself!!!! Maybe dance with your little ones, buy yourself something new that is fitting and sexy, and exercise and eat healthily because you WANT to.
Participate. Ask questions. And be present in your life!!
