Hi there lovely Mums! My name is Jane and I am a 34 year old mother of two beautiful boys aged 8 months and 3 years. I live in Outback NSW and I am very excited to be chosen to be a Motivating Mum for August.
I have lost 9 kilos in 3 months using the delicious Healthy Mummy Smoothies and the 28 Day weigh loss Challenge, and I am the lightest I have been in 11 years.
I gave birth to my second son in November 2015 and initially felt good about my weight postpartum. Sure, I had a few kilos to lose, but I had only gained around 6kg during my pregnancy. Then Christmas came……followed by the January school holidays. I quickly gained more and more weight indulging on soft cheese, fine wine and other treats I missed while pregnant.
At the beginning of February, my baby became ill and we were flown by the Royal Flying Doctors to Sydney for treatment, and then later to Dubbo. I lived on hospital food for days at a time over 6 admissions and could never resist the apple danish or sticky date desserts after the main meal.
My son’s health improved and the days became cooler. I tried on my jeans, and I had no chance of doing them up. I hopped on the scales and I was 66kg- the same weight I was full term with baby number 1.
Oh. My. Gosh. I was at a loss for what to do.
I had tried other programs before, but never found anything that worked long term. Then, I came across The Healthy Mummy on Facebook. I instantly joined the Facebook support group and read more and more about the success other mums were having with the 28 day weigh loss program and Healthy Mummy smoothies. I thought, why not?
I started by ordering a vanilla healthy mummy smoothie mix and signing up for a recipe subscription. The smoothies tasted AMAZING and I quickly became addicted! I also began meal planning for the first time. My husband and I chose a few meals each for the week from the hub, and were impressed on how tasty they were.
Over the next couple of weeks I ordered the chocolate smoothie mix and upgraded my subscription to the 28 Day Challenge. Over April, May and June, I was diligent with sticking with the plan Sunday to Thursday and replaced one meal with a smoothie every day. I let myself have a few treats on Friday and Saturday because I am not on a diet, this is a lifestyle, and life is about balance.
I started exercising again, heading to the gym during my husbands lunch breaks so he could be home with the kids. I managed to complete the couch to 5km program on the treadmill over the three months.
I had always said my goal was 60kg, but in the back of my mind I wanted to be 58kg. Well, thanks the the 28 Day Challenge and Healthy Mummy Smoothies I reached of 57kgs last week! This program is AMAZING as every month there is something new to look forward to. I cannot wait for the Family Friendly Challenge over August! I am trying to help my 3 year old try new foods, so this month will be perfect for it!
I have some exciting events coming up this month. As a reward for reaching my goal, I have booked flights and accommodation for a kid free weekend with my girlfriends in Sydney, and I will be attending the famous Louth Races on the 6th. My motivation this month is to follow the plan and buy a new dress in Sydney in a size 10!!
