This month marked the one year anniversary of my 35kg* weight loss maintenance with Lose Baby Weight and I have definitely been thrown a few curveballs.
Lose Baby Weight-35kg Loss

My ‘Maintenance Mum’ knowledge of nutrition and exercise really has been put to the test with a birthday party, a wedding, a day at the horse races and even a gala dinner mixing up my month.
Luckily for me, Lose Baby Weight is a lifestyle not a diet so I was able to adapt to suit all of these special occasions.

If I have a big event on I always start my day with a Healthy Mummy smoothie.
My absolute favourite is the Sneaky Snickers and I’ve been making it with frozen banana to add creaminess to it.
They’re a great option for breakfast on those days when I know I’m going to be extremely busy, or when my lunch or dinner will more than likely be high in calories.
The Ultimate Smoothie Recipe eBook has kept my breakfasts interesting. I usually stick to the couple faithful recipes combos but I tried three new ones this month with pleasing results; the Mint Surprise, Green Goddess and Berry Choc Ripple with definitely be repeated. Yum!
The key to attending events is to enjoy yourself within reason.

If it’s a catered event chances are there will be temptation on every plate so choosing wisely whilst not feeling restricted is the way to go.
If I’m able to, I choose to stay away from white potato, pasta and creamy sauces instead filling my plate with lean meats, vegetables and salads.
This is purely a choice I make for myself but if my options are limited I eat them in moderation. Oh, and I always leave room for dessert.
I love attending events and having dessert reminds me that I can in fact ‘have my cake and eat it too’.
If it’s an event where you’re able to bring your own food then the possibilities really are endless.
Bruschetta, Rice Paper Rolls, Zucchini & Bacon Slice or a fabulous salad are all great options.
I took Spicy Chicken Meatballs and Healthy Quiche Cups along with a fruit platter to the horse races last week – and I took home clean platters! Extremely well-received by everyone AND there was no giving into the many junk food temptations.
Being a Maintenance Mum for October has been a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to see what the next year of maintaining my weight brings.
