Weight loss recipes # 1 – breakfast time!
Quinoa porridge
Ever heard of quinoa? Quinoa is a seed high in protein and is an increasingly popular ingredient used in restaurants around the world. This delicious breakfast recipe is the perfect morning meal to help lose stomach fat post pregnancy:
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Quinoa – Rinsed
- 1 Cup Steel Cut Oats
- ¼ tsp Sea Salt
- 3 Cups Water
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- ¼ Cup Raisins
In a medium saucepan, place rinsed quiona, steel cut oats, sea salt, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and let simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat stir in cinnamon and raisins and let sit for several minutes. Serve hot.
Weight loss recipes # 2 – Lunch time!
Healthy Nacho’s
Who doesn’t love nachos? Nachos may not seem like the perfect recipe to lose stomach fat, but if you use low fat ingredients and pile on the vegies it can be a perfect weigh loss recipe!
Ingredients:
- 400g plain corn chips
- 1 x 425g can three bean mix, drained
- 1 small green capsicum, diced
- 1 cup tomato salsa
- 1 cup low fat grated cheese
- Guacamole – to serve
- 1 ripe avocado, peeled and stone removed
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Pinch of chilli flakes
Spread ½ corn chips over microwave proof plate. Sprinkle half beans, green capsicum, salsa and cheese, and then finish off with the corn chips and the rest of the beans, capsicum, salsa and cheese. Place in microwave and cook on medium heat for 1 minute, or until cheese has melted.
To make the guacamole – Mash the avocado with a fork and combine well with lemon juice and chili and serve with the nachos.
Weight Loss Recipe # 3 – Dinner time!
Chicken and apricot casserole
Chicken with apricots is a winning combination of tastes which makes it the perfect recipe to lose stomach fat. Dried apricots are a source of iron, and chicken thighs provide more iron than breasts.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 8 chicken thighs, skinned
- 1 onion, sliced lengthwise
- 150g lean smoked back bacon, diced
- 150g soft dried apricots
- 2 tbsp chopped flatleaf parsley
In a large pan, heat the oil and brown the chicken thighs. Add the sliced onion and continue to cook gently for around 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the lean bacon, apricots and some water. Cover, and cook gently on the hob for 20-25 minutes until the chicken juices run clear. Add a little more water if needed. Add the parsley for the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Serve with steamed rice or couscous and a green salad.
