Hi, my name is Laura and I’m a stay-at-home mum of two, and one of your June Winter Warrior Motivating Mums.
About 2½ years ago, a few months after the birth of my first baby, I found The Healthy Mummy. I reached 134 kilos during my pregnancy and had somehow lost some weight to get down to 116 kilos. I had lost the weight breastfeeding, but the bad habits were still there. The truth is if I hadn’t found The Healthy Mummy I would have gone back to full term pregnancy weight and then some.
I have lost over 34 kilos in my time doing the Healthy Mummy 28 day weight loss challenges, which includes weight I re-lost after my second pregnancy. Being a Winter Warrior is a great thing as winter is my favourite time of the year!
They say summer bodies are made in winter, but I say winter bodies rock! I love printed leggings, knitted tops, boots and scarves, which are not very summer appropriate items of clothing. Snake and wasp season is over and there’s an invigorating chill in the air.
The Healthy Mummy has the best winter meals too! As I type, the Beef Burgundy Stew from the 28 Day Challenge cooks in my oven, last night we had the Bacon Veggie Frittata, and tomorrow is Mexican Lasagne from the Winter Cookbook. I love stews and soups, comforting baked meals and hot hot coffee! I find it so much easier and cheaper to get yummy veggies into meals, I love it!
Winter exercise my warrior friends is a wonderful thing. Today I relegated my exercise bike to the back of the deck and am using my Fitbit to supercharge a new type of workout; jogging and marching, skipping and jumping on the spot is my new cardio friend. I’ve set my daily step goal to 12,001 and my heart needs to pump itself silly to get there. The Healthy Mummy DVD is back living in the DVD player and I’m feeling excited for something different and fresh.
