Hi Mums,
My name is Kristy and I am so excited to be a Lose Baby Weight Motivating Mum for April which I believe is the best way to lose weight
After I had my daughter in August, 2013 I didn’t really lose any pregnancy weight… I think I actually kept gaining. I ate a lot of junk and made excuses to myself about how I’d start worrying about my weight tomorrow. But then I saw some photos of myself and realised that ‘tomorrow’ really needed to be ‘today’. One day my daughter is going to grow up and need a healthy role model; I don’t want to be a fat mum and I needed to find a healthy weight loss plan.
When I saw the Lose Baby Weight facebook page, I was inspired by the success others were having. I ordered some healthy mummy smoothies and the 28 Day Plan and I haven’t looked back since. I’m still a work in progress, but I want people to know that if I can lose baby weight they can too and that this is the best way to lose weight
Since starting the Lose Baby Weight program in November, 2013 I have lost 16.5kgs; so I’m around the halfway mark for meeting my weight loss goals. I’ve found the weight loss plan really easy to stick to and I love that the healthy mummy smoothies taste exactly like milkshakes!
The things that are working for me:
- Following the 28 Day plan (or planning healthy meals/snacks ahead of time)
- Writing down what I eat (keeps me accountable and following the plan)
- Replacing at least one meal a day with a Healthy Mummy Smoothie
- Drinking lots of water!
- Having a workout goal each week. I plan ahead when exercise will fit in my schedule and I put it into a checklist so I can feel a sense of achievement when I stick to my goals.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced with my weight loss is my husband. As supportive as he is, he’s also a bad influence and likes to have treats in the pantry and wine with dinner. Since I can’t completely eliminate junk from my house, I’ve given him his own shelf (the top one that I can’t reach easily!). It helps that I have all my meals and snacks planned out for me in the 28 Day Plan – it takes away the bad decision making because if it’s not on the plan I’m not eating it! Another bonus is that my husband loves the recipes from the 28 Day Plan too, so there’s no mucking around having to cook separate meals.
Being a Motivating Mum means stepping out of my comfort zone a bit. I’ve been embarrassed by my weight and I cringe when I look at photos of myself. But I think that a lot of people can relate to having low-self esteem about their weight and appearance. No matter what life change you need to make, you’re more likely to be successful if you tell other people what you’re doing. I’d also like to be able to help others see how easy it can be to turn your habits around and feel healthier.
These are my weight loss stats so far:
November
- Weight: 95.2kgs
- Waist: 131.5 cms
- Hips: 127.5cms
- Thighs: 69.5cms
- Arms: 37.5 cms
Now
- Weight: 78.7kgs
- Waist: 102 cms
- Hips: 122 cms
- Thighs: 63 cms
- Arms: 36 cms
Sometimes I feel discouraged because I’m still overweight and it can be hard to see the progress on a day to day basis. It really helps to take weekly measurements and full body photos so that you can SEE the changes over time.
My goals for the month of April are:
To exercise every day – walking, gym classes, Lose Baby Weight exercises
Eat well – Lose Baby Weight recipes and lots of yummy healthy mummy smoothies
Lose 2-3 kgs
Thank you for having me as a motivating mum for April – I am really excited to see what we can all achieve by the end of this month and I love these weight loss plans
