Hi Mums, I have lost 35kgs* in ten months by following the fabulous Lose Baby Weight plans and I’ve just passed one year of maintaining my weight.
I have found that being in maintenance phase is so much trickier than losing weight.
Lose Baby Weight-35kg Loss

It’s a constant balancing act between eating the right amount and exercising the right amount, and it has taken me a little while to get right. In the beginning of maintenance I lost my way a bit.

I decided to set some mini goals just like when I was losing weight so that I continued to be motivated and focused. My main goal was to do five unassisted chin-ups; it’s a work in progress but I know I will get there.
Another goal was to learn how to do basic exercises using barbells and dumbbells, whilst another was to work on getting a ‘booty’. The booty is coming along nicely!
So far this month has been a very interesting month for me as the scales are showing I have put on 2kgs in the past fortnight.
The old me would have felt defeated that my weight had gone up. The old me probably would have eaten a huge bag of chips and downed a 2L bottle of soft drink.
But the new me knows that I haven’t put on 2kgs of fat. Luckily I’m not relying on the scales anymore but rather on photos, measurements and how my clothes are fitting me.

My focus has switched from just maintaining to instead getting stronger and building muscle. I am seeing some incredible changes in my arm and leg muscles; these areas are getting bigger and more toned.
As strength has been a big focus for me I’ve surprised myself by being able to lift double (and sometimes triple!) the amount of weight I began with three months ago.
I have also stopped doing dedicated cardio sessions in favour of my weights program. I can’t believe I’m actually enjoying lifting weights!
Being a Maintenance Mum has been fabulous so far especially with the theme of the 28-Day Challenge being ‘speedy meals’.
I’m just as busy as the next mum so having meals and snacks I can prepare in under 15 minutes has been wonderful. I am absolutely loving the Cheesy Cauliflower Bake, the Speedy Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni, the Raw Mini Chocolate Cakes and the Banana Split – and the best thing is that the kids are loving them all even more!
I love that all the food is family- friendly and not once during my weight loss and maintenance have I thought “I’m on a diet” or felt deprived. I’ve also been baking up a storm on weekends and my go-to recipes are the Choc Chip Chickpea Cookies, Almond & Cacao Fudge, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Fruit & Nut Bites, Chocolate Zucchini Brownies, Healthy Hedgehog Slice and Raspberry Muffins. All of the portions freeze or refrigerate well and are perfect for my kiddies’ lunch boxes and for my snacks.
I’m planning on finishing with a bang…and those five chin-ups WILL be mine!
Jodie xx
