healthy_foodI’ve got a new food obsession, and it’s this (frankly amazingly delish) dip. I stumbled upon it when I was searching for a filling but healthy afternoon snack and only had the bare essentials knocking around in the fridge and pantry.
Including healthy snacks between your main meals is especially important when trying to lose weight and follow a healthy eating plan.
Not only will this help keep your blood sugar and energy levels stable, it’ll also help ward of the 3pm crash when you’re most likely to reach into the biscuit tin or grab a high calorie, high sugar snack to get you through till dinner.
This super easy spread combines the healthy fats found in avocado and extra virgin olive oil, with calcium rich fetta cheese and Greek yoghurt, spinach for iron and lemon juice for flavour, without any extra calories.
One of the best things about this spread is how versatile it is. I like it on multigrain vita wheat lunch slices or rye cruskitts but it would be equally tasty when used on a sandwich or in a wrap. Yum!


1 x large avocado
1/2 cup reduced fat fetta cheese
1/2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp of low fat Greek yoghurt
1/2 cup baby spinach leaves, chopped into small pieces


Slice avocado in half and scoop out the flesh, place in a small bowl and mash well with a fork.
Crumble in the fetta and continue mashing till a smooth spread is formed
Add olive oil, lemon juice, yoghurt and spinach and stir well to combine
Serve immediately
* If you wanted to make this while out, you can combine all ingredients except the avocado then add it in  just before serving.
* Diced tomato, spanish onion and even rocket leaves all make great additions to this spread.
Makes enough for 2 people – Calories per serve – 240
