Today we are sharing this healthy, quick and easy breakfast from our August 5 Ingredients or Less 28 Day Weightloss Challenge.

Breakfast “BLAT”

A healthier version of a breakfast and lunch favourite, using ham instead of bacon. Easily increase this recipe to serve more than one.
BLT

BLATIngredients (Makes 1 serve)

  • 2 slices wholegrain/gluten free etc bread of choice (80 grams)
  • 2 slices smoked ham, lean (40 grams)
  • 1/2 cup baby spinach (15 grams)
  • 1/4 avocado (30 grams)
  • 1/2 tomato (50 grams)
  • salt
  • pepper

This is a 5 ingredients & under recipe. Please note that non-key ingredients such as salt, pepper, water, oil, vinegars, some herbs & spices, accompaniments such as side salads or vegetable sides etc are not included in the “5 & under” ingredient tally.

Method

  • Toast the bread. Mash the avocado and slice the tomato.
  • Spread one slice of toast per person with the avocado then top with the tomato, ham and baby spinach.
  • Season with salt and pepper and then place the second slice of toast on top and enjoy.
