Today,  Motivating Mum Alicia Busby talks about her 10kg weight loss to date and becoming a Motivating Mum in November

Alicia Becomes A Motivating Mum

I am a working mum with 4 children. With each pregnancy I gained a little more weight. I was overindulging. Breast feeding, but eating way too much food and enjoying too many treats.
October 2012 was a turning point for me. I was getting cranky at myself as I wasn’t happy with my body. I tried to diet but I was breast feeding a baby and I was hungry. I didn’t want to lose my milk .
(After starting the Lose Baby Weight plans it was quite the opposite. I had surplus milk – those healthy mummy smoothies are amazing.) My friend kindly took me to gym and when I spotted myself in the mirror I was shocked. I hadn’t been to the gym in 8 years and boy I looked different!  I had to do something.

The gym had a crèche and my kids weren’t used to being away from me so I realised this wasn’t for me. I came home and researched weight loss methods on Facebook and Google and found Lose Baby weight.
I ordered the Healthy Mummy smoothies and the 28 day plan. I started to exercise at home. I had some DVDs and some hand weights but most of all just used my body weight. I would hose the garden and do squats at the same time. If I got into bed and hadn’t exercised I would do some core exercises in bed. I danced around with the kids. I pushed my baby around and around my courtyard in his pram whilst the other boys rode their bikes.  I was determined to shift some of the baby bulge.
I was shocked when I lost 2.5kg the first 2.5weeks. I had worked very hard and I realised that every little bit counts. I was so determined. I then lost on average 0.5-1kg a week. I learnt  that exercising didn’t have to be done at the gym or in 1 hour sessions. It could be broken into little bits throughout the day. I just kept moving. I have now maintained the loss with a few ups n downs the past 12 months. In July and August this year, I increased my workouts and toned up and was seeing more results on the scales.
But I slowly started to eat those crusts again off the kid’s sandwiches, enjoy a wine or two after weaning my bub and eating too many calories for the amount of exercise I was doing. So I have gained a kilo but I have lost muscle. I am not as toned and my belly is looking very bloated. It’s time to knuckle down and refocus.
I am ready for the month of November to be a fit and healthy one! In late October I started small – cutting out a sugar from my coffee, stopped eating the kid’s leftovers, making a sandwich or wrap and cutting it in half for a snack later. I’m listening to my body. And I am using the 28 Day Plan, The Healthy Mummy Smoothies and the Post Pregnancy Exercise DVD
Drinking lots of water and aiming for a little bit of loss each week. I already have more energy and I am ready to LOSE MORE BABY WEIGHT.
