Hi my name is Adel, I signed up to The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Challenge in October 2014 and started using the Healthy Mummy smoothies not long after. My starting weight was 85.4kg.
Since my early 20’s I have always struggled with my weight. I lived in Chicago in the USA for a few years and well, let’s just say all that fast food well and truly caught up with me. I returned to Australia in 2001 and after my first child was born in 2003 I ballooned out to 120kgs.
I managed to lose a lot of weight after her birth with intensive everyday exercise and attending a gym. However, once child number 2 came along I no longer had the time for daily gym visits, life as a working mum was busy!
My moment to join the Healthy Mummy 28 day weight loss challenge came after trying to find a beautiful dress to wear to a childhood friends 40th cocktail party, it ended in tears in the dressing room and that was it.
I came home that day and joined The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Challenge and was more determined than ever that I needed to change. The rest is history…….
Today I am an active challenge member and continue to use the Healthy Mummy Smoothies. I have lost a total of 30.2kg and am now maintaining my weight around 55kgs. The Healthy Mummy Challenges have given me the tools to adjust my eating habits, the education on healthy eating incorporating all food groups and the ideas to make meals family friendly. I utilise the menu planner each week, plan my family meals, do my online shopping (there is less temptation to purchase those not so good options) and Sunday is my food preparation and baking day.
The Challenge is perfect for my busy lifestyle as a working Mummy of two very active children. It has saved me lots of time making separate meals for everyone in the family, we now eat the same healthy meals, snacks and everyone is much healthier and happier.
The Healthy Mummy Smoothies are also a hit in our house making for a nutritious, yummy alternative. Hubby and I have one most mornings, hubby has now lost over 15 kgs and loves both the challenge meals and the Healthy Mummy Smoothies.
Like so many Mummies, a busy schedule often meant I had little time to exercise, but not anymore! It has now become part of my daily routine. The Challenge exercises are easy to fit into my day, you will often find me squatting or doing high knee raises whilst preparing meals or walking and running in front of the TV. I have also just embarked on a new journey and am currently studying a Certificate in Group Fitness with an Aqua component. Recently I became a qualified Acquapole Instructor at my local swimming centre and am currently completing my practical hours.
To say my life has done a 360 is an understatement, The Healthy Mummy has given me the gift of feeling confident in myself, my self-esteem has improved beyond my wildest dreams and I can now shop for those pretty dresses with tears of joy.
I would love you all to join me on the August Challenge it’s going to be amazing for toning our hips, butts and thighs. The meals will all be family friendly and as always I’m already planning my week ahead and looking forward to trying some new recipes.
