Whenever we decide to lose weight we run the risk of putting too much pressure on ourselves as the weekly weigh in beckons.
However whenever you lose weight – and ESPECIALLY if you are mum – you should always look at your weight loss as a ‘healthy lifestyle change’ without putting too much pressure on yourself and this will mean that the weight loss will be a by product of your lifestyle.
And the key point to note that you will inevitably have bad weeks. So it is key to be realistic with your weigh ins or measurements and not to expect a loss each week. When I was losing my baby weight I knew that for 3 out of 4 weeks I would have good weeks but that there would be one week each month where I was not good and I had no energy, was grumpy and wanted to eat everything in site! And this is mostly down to hormones and in those weeks I did not weigh in and did not put any pressure on myself as it would only serve to depress me!
I think most women suffer from one bad week a month too and this is why weight loss and a change of lifestyle must be done over a sensible time frame and by following a sensible diet and exercise plan – such as our 28 Day Diet & Exercise Plan.
And remember, we are not robots or machines and life happens around us (especially with children!) irrespective of if we are trying to lose weight and the reality is that there will be stumbling blocks along the way – and that you need to recognise this so that you don’t put unrealistic pressure on yourself, when sometimes each day is just about ‘getting through’, staying sane and not about losing weight.
So if you are having a bad week, take comfort in the fact that you are not alone and that there are mums all over the country having a bad week too and know that next week is a new week and give yourself a BIG pat on the back for doing so well so far.
