For many mums, a trip to the supermarket for healthy eating food can be a stressful occasion that often ends up taking much longer than it should.
Follow our tips to make your visit a bit faster, which will hopefully save your sanity too, while you lose pregnancy weight.
Make a shopping list
You’ve heard it before, sure, but making a list is a sure fire way to get the job done faster. Tick items off as you go so that you know how much more you have to get.
You can even sort it by aisle if you’re going to a supermarket you know quite well, which will avoid back tracking down the same aisle.
The list can also help you avoid needing to go back to the supermarket later in the week for forgotten items.
Try shopping online
The beauty of the 28 Day Challenge meal plans is that you know exactly what you need for the week ahead.
If you haven’t already tried it you might find that shopping online is a great time saver.
Not only do you save the time at the supermarket, you also save time getting to and from the store, there’s no kid wrangling while you’re there, you can place the order in your pyjamas from the comfort of your own home, and there’s no chance you will succumb to the temptation of the checkout chocolate selection.
Plus the delivery driver will carry all of your bags into your kitchen, which is always nice.
Leave the kids at home
It’s not always possible, but shopping without the children is going to save valuable time.
You could try shopping at night when someone else is at home to look after the kids.
Or some mums do a ‘kid swap’ with a friend where they drop their kids off to a friend before they go shopping, and then return the favour later.
Shop outside busy times
Shopping at night is great, as there are fewer people waiting at the checkouts.
You might also score some last minute discounted items.
Getting up and going first thing in the morning is another good time, as most people are still at home getting organised.
Buy more of your favourite items
If there are things you buy every time you shop, you could consider buying more than you need so that you won’t have to buy them next time.
Of course, this is only useful if you have the room to store them. Think tinned tomatoes, toilet paper, brown rice, or toothpaste. Even better if they are on sale!
