Incidental exercises are all the little movements we do throughout the day going about our regular routines.
No matter how time poor you might be, these kinds of activities slot into your day and don’t require workout gear or a water bottle.

  • Housework:  While you’re cleaning your house and moving your body try incorporating squats, lunges etc into your work. For example, if you are tidying up toys, squat down to pick up each toy then lift your arm above your head and down again or in a bicep curl  motion before putting the toy down. If wiping down benches put a little bit of extra oomph into each wipe, or wipe vigorously to give yourself a short arm workout. When hanging your washing on the line lunge or squat for each item of clothing before hanging it.
  • Parking further away: Heading out to the shops or have an appointment? If you live close enough walk instead of driving or if you need to drive, park right away from the doors so you can walk further and keep moving longer.
  • Tin cans or hand weights: If you work in an office or from home or even just while you’re sitting watching TV, grab some tin cans from your cupboard or a set of hand weights and do some shoulder presses, bicep curls or any other arm exercises instead of just sitting still.
  • Play with your children: As much as we would all love to sit down to a good book or magazine or take a break while our kids play, jump up and join them and not only burn a few calories but have FUN! Run around kicking a ball, crawl along the floor with them if they aren’t walking yet, whatever they are doing so long as they are moving you will be too.
  • Dance: Who doesn’t love a good boogie? Crank that music and have a dance. Dance while you’re cooking dinner, while the kids are eating or whenever you can squeeze it in. It’s fun and keeps your heart rate pumping.

I am so glad and grateful I found Lose Baby Weight and the 28 Day Challenges.
I knew I needed to lose weight but needed some help, especially because my partner and I were getting married in 9 months and I didn’t want to look the way I did in our photos.
My life has changed so much in the last 14 months. I lost 46kgs in 11 months and I have been maintaining my weight since.
You won’t regret it!
