- Cheesy Broccoli & Egg Muffins – not only are these a great snack but add in some extra veggies or some ham and you can use a couple of these muffins in the lunch box to replace the boring old vegemite sandwich.
- Muesli Cookies – get the kids (and yourself) reaching for these when they need a snack rather than a sugary processed biscuit.
- Almond & Cacao Fudge – a good one to have in the fridge for after school if you have a “nut free” policy at your school. This is a decadent and delicious healthy snack to enjoy.
- Blueberry & Cream Cheese Muffins – great for lunch boxes as well as morning tea if you’re having friends over for a catch up.
- Coconut & Cinnamon Popcorn – make a large batch of this and then pack in lunch boxes in smaller portions for a healthy alternative to things like packaged chips.
- Zucchini, Pea & Feta Slice – another great alternative to a sandwich is packing a slice like this into a lunch box. Add other “hidden” veggies if you like to make it even more nutritious.
- Homemade Berry Popsicles – most kids love an ice cream on a stick even in the coldest weather. Not ideal for lunch boxes but great to have in the freezer for a healthy after school snack.
- How can you go past a good “bliss ball” recipe for an easy and healthy lunch box snack. Make a number of combinations to have on hand so that lunch box creation is easy. Try the Strawberry Nut Balls, Quick & Easy Date Balls or for a savoury option the Spinach Balls.
Of course you can also add these tasty snack ideas into your weekly meal plan too, to enjoy in between meals.
