I know I am definitely enjoying all the tasty, ‘speedy’ meals and enjoying pushing myself with my exercise. But I will admit I am not getting the results I was hoping for so far this month.
So this is why, I feel like I need to talk about motivation and sticking with the plan when you feel like giving up.
My weight loss up until about two months ago was fairly steady. I’ve lost 37kgs* and I am so incredibly happy with my loss. However, I am about 6.5kgs from my goal weight of 70kgs.
I am sticking to my BMR, I drink between 3-4lts of water a day, I exercise heavily 5 days a week and I eat really well, sticking to my meal plan however the scales are just not budging for me. This is a scary time for me because normally the old me would have just given up when this happens.
BUT – I am NOT the old me anymore!

I see so many posts on The Healthy Mummy & Lose Baby Weight Facebook Page about how the scales are not budging despite doing everything right, or about hitting plateaus.
But what else have you achieved? Are your measurements changing? Are your clothes fitting better? Are you fitter and stronger than ever before? Are you eating healthier than ever before?
Are your family happy, healthy and enjoying being active with you? Compare your progress photos!!! These are the bigger wins in comparison to those pesky scales!!!
These last few months for me have been very important mentally in my weight loss journey in learning to use other ways of tracking success rather than relying on the scales.

My whole life I have always been so focused on my weight on the scales, not realising that things like fluid retention or that specific times of the month can have a dramatic impact upon your weight. The scales also cannot tell you how amazing you are, or how beautiful you are.
It is difficult to stay motivated when you are working so hard towards a goal and your just not quite there yet. I am happy to admit that when I am struggling with results I can get in a ‘slump.’
I start to let bad foods back into my meals. I get a bit lax with my exercise and I get a bit depressed about these ‘lack of results.’ But after a few days like this (rather than months like before,) and I am feeling like absolute crap because I haven’t exercised and haven’t been eating well then I pick myself back up.
I hate feeling like crap. I hate that sluggish, sick to the stomach feeling. I see the look of disappointment my husband gives me or the look my son gives me when I don’t get up and run around with him or join in playing with him.

I then remember how far I have come and this is the jump I need to get back into it. In 12 months I have lost 37kgs.
In 12 months my fitness has increased dramatically – 12 months ago I could barely walk to my mailbox without getting puffed, now I can run 6kms, I can run up sand hills and I can push myself harder than ever before.
In 12 months I have gone from wearing a size 18/20 to a size 12/14.
Regardless of whether you are 6 months, 12 months or 2 years into your journey, regardless of whether you are just beginning, the results are worth it. Because you’ve already come so far.
Even just making the decision to start eating healthy and exercising is a massive achievement that needs to be celebrated.
‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’
Much Love.
Tamara xo

Casey lost 22.3kg* with the 28 Day Challenge
Casey says: “I tried another very popular weight loss program and it didn’t work. It was full of processed sugar laden foods and I thought this can’t be right! I’m starving! I had followed LBW on Facebook but couldn’t get my head around “more food is less weight” and was too scared to try it.
In FEB I did! And thank god! Because all of a sudden everything just “clicked” and made sense!! How could I have lived my life as a big girl! Surely it can’t be this easy!! Well it is. Thanks to the LBW team I’m almost (about 8 kg) from my goal weight! I have popped the scales away for 100 days til summer!! Here is to a healthier me – for the rest of my life!!
