Not all snacks are created equal and if you are following a healthy eating diet plan to assist in losing weight then you should know which healthy snacks to choose from.
Here are a few ideas on how to feel good and snack better:
1) Greek yogurt with mixed berries
Greek yogurt is high in protein, so you boost your fat burning benefits with greek yogurt over regular yogurt which is high in sugar.
The mixed berries are high in antioxidants which help fight belly bulge by cleaning up free radical damage.
This is a delicious snack, perfect when you feel like something sweet tasting and refreshing.
Combine natural yoghurt with your choice of mixed berries – think strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and boysenberries.
2) Apples
Apples are low in calories and fat, low in sodium, and contain vitamins and minerals as well as fibre. These can all help you to lose weight in different ways. The fibre helps you feel fuller for longer as it expands in your stomach so it takes less food to satisfy your hunger.
3) Pistachios
Pistachios are packed with plenty of health benefits. Full of fibre, protein and healthy fats, they can help you stay full and stop overeating. Enjoy a small handful when you’re on the go!
4) Avocado Toast with Cottage Cheese and Tomatoes
Wholemeal toast topped with sliced avocado, tomato and cottage cheese is high in good fats, vitamin C, fibre and protein. It’s the perfect fat busting snack!
5) Baked zucchini chips with paprika and sea salt
Zucchini also offers a good dose of dietary fibre and with the added benefit of pectin controlling your blood glucose levels, this will reduce the risk that you experience unwanted food cravings between meals.
Use paprika to not only flavour this healthy snack but also to boost your metabolism, reduce your appetite, and lower your blood pressure.
Cut a zucchini into thin slices and toss in 1 Tbsp olive oil, sea salt, and pepper. Sprinkle with paprika and bake at 180 degree for 25 to 30 minutes.
6) Poached egg on wholemeal bread
Eggs are amazing, we all know they are full of protein and good fats but they also contain choline, a substance your body requires to break down fat for energy. The wholemeal bread contains fibre to keep you fuller for longer.
7) Figs
This unusual looking but great tasting fruit is an excellent source of fibre, which helps keep you full for longer. Snacking on figs will help you eat less and burn fat faster. Plus they’re a great option when you’re craving something sweet but don’t want a snack with added sugar.
8) Watermelon
This beautiful fruit increases amino acids and helps support metabolism! Plus, since it’s water-based, it’s also very hydrating. One cup a day is all you need to start burning fat. Eat it plain or throw it into a blender and sip away at a yummy smoothie.
9) Papaya
Papaya contains an enzyme called papain, which improves protein digestion and absorption, which is key to boosting metabolism and burning fat. Toss some in a salad or eat it on its own.
10) Dip strawberries in greek yogurt and coconut flakes
YUM! Greek yogurt for protein that keeps you full. Strawberries promote the production of the hormone adiponectin and leptin, both of which are fat-burning hormones and metabolic hormones. This results in a higher metabolic rate and more weight loss. Coconut for fibre and good fats.
