When expectant Mothers plan the birth of their child/ren, they don’t expect the baby to be born STILL in it’s amniotic sac. A phenomenon so rare that it only ever occurs in 1 out of every 80,000 births.
That was the reality of an expectant Mother in Spain recently. A set of twins were born; the first one naturally, the second one en caul (meaning still inside the amniotic sac). The ‘caul’ is the medical term for the membrane surrounding the baby, holding the amniotic fluid and placenta inside.
The amniotic fluid or ‘waters’ as we know them, are usually broken during intense contractions/ labour or from a surgeons scalpel performing a caesarean.
The uploaded video of this incredible birth has been viewed more than 6.8 million times. Many of those are probably ours, it’s truly so amazing to watch and we couldn’t take our eyes off it.
In the video, you can see the baby squirming, wriggling around and even trying to stretch, it really wants to meet it’s Mumma.
Doctors and nurses came from everywhere inside the hospital to catch a glimpse of the rarity that occurred. Even having twins naturally is quite rare in this day and age, making this birth even more special.
So beautifully amazing. Good job Mamma and congratulations on the birth of your babies.
