Laura Lost 18kg in 8 Months

‘I have always struggled in maintaining a stable weight, and always seem to yoyo up and down.

When I was pregnant with my son I gained a whopping 23 kilos. After the birth I weighed 83 kilos. 6 weeks later I weighed 77 kilos (picture on the left).

With the help of the Healthy Mummy Smoothies and frequent walks as recommended in the Lose Baby Weight plans I was able to shed 18 kilos in a matter of 8 months, dropping to 59 kilos (see picture on the right).

Curry Flavoured Noodles

healthy_eatingIf you are a fan of take away noodles as a quick and easy meal, you’re in for a treat.

Today we have a recipe for making your own veggie packed noodles at home which:

  • use much less oil than a take away joint
  • contain none of the sugar that they sneak in
  • have no MSG or other additives that bloat your tummy, and
  • are about one quarter of the cost!

This recipe could definitely be tailored to your tastes. Add some chicken breast or beef fillet for a protein hit.

Toss in your favourite Asian greens (bok choy is a good one) or baby corn.

It’s worth trying out different curry powders if you get the chance.

A really nice one is the Ayam brand which is often available in Asian supermarkets or delis.

It is such a good spice mix to keep in the pantry for stir fries or for making your own curry base.

Did you know that Ayam curry powder contains 11 different spices? It’s true!

Coriander, chilli, aniseed, cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, star anise, pepper, fenugreek, nutmeg and cardamom. No wonder it tastes so good!

Cumin Butter Bean Salad Recipe

One of the best ways to lose any pregnancy weight is to eat lots of low calorie, low fat foods that are still filling and on the Lose Baby Weight plans we can help you to do this.

That way, you’re full up without having to take in lots of calories. The fuller you are, the less likely it is that you’ll snack on low quality foods like ready meals, crisps and chocolate.

Veggies contain lots of dietary fibre, which is one of the reasons that they can be so filling. Dietary fibre is insoluble, meaning that it cannot be digested by the body – but it also swells up when it comes into contact with water.

Consuming dietary fibre will keep you full, especially if you wash it down with a big glass of water – and then because you have to get rid of the fibre, as your body cannot digest it, you have to go to the toilet. Dietary fibre not only keeps you full, helping in the fight against fat loss, but it also helps to improve digestive health.

The stronger and healthier your digestive system, the more vitamins and nutrients you take in from your food – meaning that you take in more goodness from what you eat without having to do anything other than tuck in!

The increased absorption of vitamins and nutrients could also boost weight loss, too. Vegetarian food doesn’t have to be boring – we’ve come up with a deliciously fragrant summer salad recipe, perfect for lunch or dinner or for serving at a BBQ.

Our 12 Top Smoothie Tips

healthy_mummy_smoothiesHere at Lose Baby Weight we are so proud of our Healthy Mummy Smoothies, and we love how much you like them too.

We have three delicious flavours, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry; and literally thousands of smoothie recipes for you to choose from.

Today we have loads of tips for how to make the most of your smoothies, whether it’s saving time, saving money, or adding extra nutrition.

Pre-chop your fruit for the week

You don’t want to be chopping up fruit each morning, so at the beginning of the week, set aside some time for chopping.

Use plastic containers to store chunks of rockmelon, watermelon, kiwi fruit, pineapple – whatever takes your fancy.

Some fruit (such as apples) needs to be chopped just prior to using it so that it doesn’t turn brown.

Over to you Robyn…

‘Last week was a bad week for me. A few things went wrong and by Friday I was feeling really down. I was particularly feeling fatigued about trying to lose weight.

In the afternoon I decided enough was enough and I got myself up off the couch, threw on my workout clothes, put Charlotte in the pram and went for a run.

Just getting out into the fresh air and exercising made me feel better.

While I ran I thought about why I was feeling so fatigued about trying to lose weight and through the clarity that only running can bring, I realised it was because I didn’t want to lose anymore weight!

I have met my weight loss goals for both the month of May and overall.

I am feeling really good about my weight and the way I look. I am happy with my current weight, which is in the healthy BMI range

Chicken Soup For The Soul

healthy_eatingWhen you or your family are sick with a cold, it can be hard to get excited about eating much at all.

Your head aches, your nose is stuffed up, and it seems as though your taste buds have taken a long nap.

That’s where good old chicken soup comes in.

Long hailed as the cure for the common cold, it is still offered up as the best way to get some much needed nutrition into your body when you need it most.

Laura-Lie Lost 7kg in 7 Weeks

‘When I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter, my weight climbed up to 95kg and I felt horrible.

Once she was born I went back to 80kg but put on more weight because I was feeling down from complications after her birth.

When Amelia was 3 months old I found the Lose Baby Weight website and decided to try it.

Being breastfeeding friendly was a massive incentive to buy the Healthy Mummy Smoothies.

I started the Lose Baby Weight weight loss challenge with some friends and having the healthy mummy smoothie reminded me to have a nice healthy breakfast every morning.
