Wow – what a week!! This time of year is always a difficult one for numerous reasons, but I can’t let them get the best of me this year. Work has ramped up, it is sooo cold to exercise outside and I have the first anniversary of my father’s passing this month. All fabulous excuses to sit on the couch and eat bad and drink lots, right??? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Motivating Mum Brooke Is On Track To Blitz A 10km Fun RunWith just over 7 weeks to go until my 10km Bridge to Brisbane, I have ramped up my training to hit my goal to be as close to the 1hr mark when I cross that finishing line. The treadmill at the gym has been my friend on these cold nights so I can practice keeping my pace 3 nights a week. And I have even organised a 10km jogging group for Sunday mornings of ladies that are training at the same pace and same goal to keep me accountable. When I told my husband all this he looked at me baffled. “What?” I asked him, to his response of “Who are you?” and giggled!!
Who am I? I am the person who started 2016 with a MAJOR goal in my sight. Finish the 10km Bridge to Brisbane. Yep, just finish it. Not a hard goal, right? Well seeings as I started this year not even being able to walk 2.5km without ‘dying’, this goal seemed out of my reach. But when you want something so bad, you work hard for it… and boy have I been working hard!!!!
Now I have altered this goal to be 10km in as close to an hour as possible. Currently sitting at 1hr 20min; so I’m working even harder to get this down. In the process of achieving this goal, I have also dropped nearly 20kg, which is definitely making this running thing a lot easier. No more pains in my shins, no more sore hips and no more ‘dying’ (well maybe still a little dying haha!)
It’s amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it! Your journey is 100% mental!!
Your body won’t go where your mind doesn’t push it! If you want it – go get it! It never gets easier, you just get better! Look in the mirror, that’s your competition! Keep your eyes on the prize! Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you… how many other motivational quotes do I have in my head?? LOTS! But they keep me going and I have them printed around my house to stay focused. Do whatever works for you. Keep looking at how far you’ve come and this alone will drive you to push that little bit further.
