This time of year is tough
Not only as adults are we contending with the cold weather, the desire to eat comfort food, the dark mornings and evenings and the coughs and colds but as mothers we have the added stresses and worries of when our children get struck down with sickness
And if your children are at an age when they go to day care, kindergarden or school then they will more than likely be coming into contact with all kinds of germs

And as we all know when our children are sick everything takes a back seat.
I know my 2 have been sick lots of the past couple of weeks and I just roll with it and focus on getting them better and giving them lots of love and hugs.
So this leads me to me a common question I see asked in the private group about what to do when you have made great progress but then something happens that completely derails you – and common reasons are that you or your little one are sick.
The best advice I can give you when this happens is to take time out.
Weight loss and healthy living isn’t a race.
When our kids are sick, nothing else matters. That is not to say that you want to turn to comfort food and take aways, but you certainly don’t want to be stressing about calories or worrying about missing work outs when you can barely stay away or just need to be cuddling your children.
I think we can often let breaks in our focus lead to us feeling we have failed or have wasted a week so why bother continuing. But this absolutely doesn’t need to be the case.
You just need to put everything in perspective and I repeat, weight loss is not a race.
So when you or your kids are struck down with illness, don’t stress about your weight loss. Just focus on getting everyone better.
Try and have a few freezer meals made so you have a healthy eating back up and try and eat lots of fresh and healthy foods – so that you all get better soon.
