Hi mums! Annette here and I have lost 18kgs* with Lose Baby Weight.
What do you do when the scales just won’t seem to budge? They go up. They go down. But they hang around the same numbers.
Lose Baby Weight 18kg Loss

At the moment I keep bouncing around between 71 and 72kgs. So what do you do? You keep going. You don’t give up.
You don’t think to yourself ‘What’s the point?’ The point is that you’re in this healthy lifestyle change for the long haul.

The Lose Baby Weight program is not a quick fix. It’s not a fad diet. It’s definitely not something that you do with the expectation that you will lose 5kgs in three days.  It is about promoting a healthy lifestyle.
So I’m not here to just ‘lose weight’. I’m here to make changes so that I can be the healthiest, fittest and happiest mumma I can be. So I can model and teach my children how they can grow up to be healthy, fit and happy young adults. I want that more than anything. And that is why you won’t ever hear me say that I give up.
So what am I going to do?
I’ve become a bit of a pro at dealing with a plateau. I seem to be in the middle of one every second month! Here is what has worked for me at different points along my weightloss journey.
I hope some of them might help you along your weightloss journey to continue to find the motivation to keep going and not give up!

Take a massive step back and reflect.

What am I doing right? What do I need to get better at? This one is a major one for me. There’s no point changing something that I’m already doing well and that’s working for me. I need to pinpoint some of the things that I can do or change to improve the healthy lifestyle I’m working towards.

Am I eating too much or not enough?

I’ll often revisit the BMR calculator on the LBW website and reassess my BMR and calorie intake. It can make a massive difference! Am I drinking enough water? That’s a major one. There have been times I’ve gone right back to strict calorie counting for a little while just to get my head back in the game.

Am I getting in enough exercise?

If I am is my body so used to the exercise that I’m doing that it’s not really having much of an effect anymore? How can I change it up? Unfortunately I can’t make it to a gym but I can definitely use my Healthy Mummy DVD, YouTube, exercise apps and research some other great exercises I can get done at home just to change up my routine and ‘shock’ my body into action. Can I walk instead of driving where I need to go? You’d be surprised how many times the answer to that question is ‘yes’!

Am I getting enough sleep?

The answer to that question is usually a most definite ‘NO!!’ But I can often do things to increase the amount of sleep I’m getting – like get off Facebook and hop into bed!
Those are some of the things I consider.
More often than not, when I’ve hit a plateau, it’s usually because I’ve let things slide. My preparation isn’t as great as it should be. I’m tired and gotten lazy so I’ve taken the easy option way too many times which is then reflected on the scales.
It’s also important to remember that the scales are definitely not the only measure of your success!!

  • If you haven’t already take your measurements – there’s a guide on how to take measurements on the LBW website.
  • Take those progress photos!! You don’t have to show them to anyone but they are SO important for yourself to look back on. Sometimes it’s more important to look at how far you’ve come rather than always at how far you still have to go.
  • Get yourself some goal pieces of clothing. Whether it’s a gorgeous dress, a pair of shorts or a top in a smaller size. Give yourself something concrete to work towards that will clearly show the changes in your body.

Because there WILL be changes!!
If you stick with the Lose Baby Weight challenges, plans, meals or smoothies you will get there. And you’ll be surprised how much you will grow and change throughout the journey.
Annette xx

Megan says:Size 20-22 to size 14 and 31kgs gone in just over 12 months all thanks to Lose Baby Weight, the Healthy Mummy Smoothies and the 28 Day Challenges.
I used to HATE shopping for swimmers but the other day I just grabbed a size 14 cossie top from KMart and expected it to be too tight as we all know KMart sizing isn’t great and guess what? IT FITS and fits well.
Can’t believe it and so stoked to be confident enough this summer to be wearing something so tight and fitted by the pool!
