When it comes to losing pregnancy weight, having support is one of the key steps to success.
That’s why so many mums love our Facebook support group as it’s a safe place to ask questions, share ideas, and get inspired.

On a more personal level, many mums have found that losing weight with a friend has been another great source of support.
So instead of boring all of your pals about the benefits of quinoa or chia seeds, why not recruit a buddy to stick with you on your weight loss journey.

1) They can lift you up when you fall off the wagon

There’s nothing like a little pep talk to help you dust off after eating your body weight in ice cream. Having someone to text or call when you need a lift can really make you feel better.

2) They can get you out of an exercise rut

Sometimes you just need to shake things up with your exercise. It’s easy to just do the same old things that you are comfortable with. A weight loss buddy can be a great push to try something new such as a Zumba class or some indoor rock climbing.

3) They can share meal ideas

If there are meals that you and your family love you can recommend them to your weight loss buddy, and in return you might get a handful of new pre-tested recipes to try out.

4) They can listen to you

Not everyone will be interested in how many squats you can do or how many calories are in brown rice. But your weight loss buddy will be happy to chat about all of these things, so long as you are willing to listen to them too!

5) They can babysit for you

Having an hour to yourself to go grocery shopping, do a big cook-up, or fit in a workout can be so handy. You can do the same for them and make it a regular weekly deal.

6) They can get you moving

It’s great having someone else to give you a shout when they are going for a walk/swim/bike ride. They might end up inspiring you to work out more than you would have on your own. Plus it’s a good excuse for a chat while you train.

7) They can give you a boost

Some days you might just feel a bit blah and it’s great to have your buddy on hand to remind you why you’re changing your lifestyle for the better.

8) They can get you off the couch

Knowing that your weight loss buddy is going to be waiting for you on the corner for your weekly jog is a great motivator to actually do it. It’s much easier to cancel your own workout when it’s just you. But there’s a good chance you won’t want to let your friend down so you’ll end up going even if you don’t really feel like it.

9) They can help you problem solve

It’s great to have someone that you can ask for advice. Whether it’s a question about a recipe you’re trying, how to perform a burpee, or even tips to get toddlers to eat their veggies, your buddy will be there to help.

10) They can encourage you to push yourself

A little bit of healthy competition can be great for your results. If your weight loss buddy can do more lunges than you or can run a bit faster, this can motivate you to push yourself that little bit more.
