Hi, my name is Melissa Burrows.  Just to re-cap on my earlier blogs I’m a busy mum of 2 girls who are 4 ½ and 2 ½.
Since January 2015 I have lost just under 12 kilos using all things Lose Baby Weight .
Lose Baby Weight - 12kg Loss
I can honestly say I don’t think I would have achieved this without Lose Baby Weight and my daily dose of amazing support from The Healthy Mummy & Lose Baby Weight Facebook page.
Today I will summarise the steps that I have personally taken to help me achieve my goals:

  • I now prioritise healthy eating and exercise, rather than allow to be something I fit in if I can.
  • I have learnt to be opportunistic with my exercise – Anytime/Anywhere. The Healthy Mummy DVD and 28 day weightloss challenge exercises are perfect to help with this.
  • I made small changes to begin with and built on them as I started to see results.
  • I exercise with friends wherever possible.
  • I don’t deprive myself some yummy goodies when socialising with friends, but have learnt to moderate my intake.
  • I have found a new love for boot camp and distance running, and the fitter I become the more I love it.
  • I have set myself difficult but achievable goals and as I have achieved them I have continued to challenge myself.

I have also learnt some valuable life changing lessons and tips since signing up with the 28 day weightloss challenges that have also helped me achieve my goals:

  • I have learnt portion control – especially when snacking.
  • I have learnt that if I fall off the wagon, it does not mean I have failed, and I simply pick myself up and carry on.
  • I am in love with the Healthy Mummy Smoothies and have one every day for breakfast (I used to have a chocolate moove).
  • I have learnt about several new healthy food alternatives that I had never heard of and how to apply them in my food preparation.
  • I have learnt that being a part of a community of like-minded women has helped keep me on track.

28_day_challengePrior to signing up with Lose Baby Weight I struggled with my sweet tooth, after dinner binge eating, limiting my alcohol consumption and I found every excuse under the sun to do little or no exercise.  I can proudly admit that in 3-4 short months I now have most of this under control.  I won’t lie, the hardest thing for me has been reducing my alcohol consumption, but I have made big improvements and it is something I will continue to work on.
Lose Baby Weight and all the amazing ladies on the Facebook site have reminded me that I like to challenge myself physically.  I had forgotten how good it felt.  I am now a beginner distance runner and I enter my first 7km run on Mother’s Day and am planning a 10km run in June.  I am fitter, stronger and healthier than I have been in 10 years – possibly even more so and I turn 39 later this year!

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a Motivating Mum during April.  It has certainly helped challenge and motivate me.  I hope that my story helps inspire even one of you.
