Weight loss Tops We Wished We’d Known When We StartedHealthy doesn’t necessarily mean low in calories
Too many labels say healthy, or even organic, but it DOESN’T also mean it’s low in calories. While you are trying to lose pregnancy weight you need to think about nutrition, health AND how many energy units you are consuming.
Low fat doesn’t always mean low sugar
So many low fat foods are boosted with sugar for taste. Make sure you compare the nutrition labels of the low-fat food with the full-fat food and see the difference.

Don’t just look at the calories; what other nasties are in there?
Calories aren’t calories
Nutritional value is everything. It’s better to eat something natural with vitamins and fibre than something less calorific that gives you nothing.
Exercise isn’t just to burn off your last meal
The benefits of exercise are amazing and they don’t stop when you finish and get your breath back. The metabolism boost and the muscle tone you receive exponentially helps you in your weight loss program. Not to mention the feel-good hormones it releases!
Don’t be afraid of good fats
Avocado are one of our favourite foods, as are nuts. They both contain ‘good fats’.
Fat is an essential part of a healthy diet, and in recent years advice has focused on the difference between saturated (bad) and unsaturated (good) fats. Although both types of fats have the same calorie content, saturated fats can raise the level of cholesterol in the blood which in turn raises the risk of heart disease. Saturated fats are most commonly found in dairy products, meat and cakes. Unsaturated fats are the healthier choice as they do not contribute to raising cholesterol. Nuts are great for this kind of fat plus great protein. We have some tips if you want to know what are the best nuts for weight loss.
healthy mummy smoothiesNever skip meals
Skipping Meals might make you lose a bit of weight, but eventually your hunger catches up with you and you go a little ‘food crazy’. Don’t do it.
Willpower is not as important as routine
It’s easy to look at all the fit and fabulous people and think they have a willpower of steel. Not so. Often they just keep to a routine and once they held it for a month everything gets much easier.
Protein First
We won’t go so far as to say it doesn’t matter what you eat (because it does), but whatever you choose to eat, pick the protein part first before the carbs. Although carbs can be our friend, it’s best to give ourselves a helping hand with the protein for fullness and long lasting energy.
Being a fit and fabulous mum IS possible
It is not just for other people or celebrities. The only difference between a celebrity and you is a movie deal and a lot of nannies and help!. Being a celebrity doesn’t make them any less hungry. They just get photographed more and their next million dollar deal depends on them looking great. And besides they’ve probably got super-good genes anyhow!
Nothing is impossible
If you want to loose tummy fat you have to keep a positive mindset and believe it’s possible. Because it is! Even if you’re struggling to find motivation, can’t afford a gym membership, maybe you have triplets who never sleep, it’s still NOT impossible to lose weight and get healthy and happy.
