12 months ago we decided to create our own range of products and the reason for doing so was that we were absolutely passionate and dedicated to creating a product that had been specifically created for mums, was the best health and nutrient product possible, helped mums lose weight, was safe for breastfeeding mums and was at a competitive price point.
Through all our research and work with thousands of mum it was evident that many mums struggled to eat healthy foods and that the same kind of issues were being experienced all over the country – such as lack of energy, eating junk food, not being able to lose weight and the price of ‘healthy’ food often being price prohibitive. And the recent research we conducted proved that even further.
So we decided to embark on a new product creation which resulted in the launch in June 2012 of our Healthy Mummy Range – you can see the range here.
It has been an absolute labour of love and has taken more work than I could have ever imagined 12 months ago and it was the absolute commitment and dedication to bring this product to mums so that it made it easier to live a healthier life that kept me going and spurred me on!
I expected the process of launching a product to be hard work but I couldn’t have ever believed how costly, time consuming, stressful and manic it all has been and it makes me even prouder to have finally launched it and I am so grateful for all of the feedback on the product – it makes all the work worth it!
I think the reason everything has been so stressful is that I was absolutely passionate about making the best product possible and as such it went through vigorous testing and research. It was created by leading Australian Nutritionist Consultants working for us, then had the Monash University make their suggestions to the formulation after reviewing it – which meant removing ingredients like Licorice which in 1% of cases can cause hypertension and having the Board of Dieticians reviewing the formula and making changes after their suggestions too – and this all meant new testings and new analysis after each change.
The reason we did this is because desperately wanted to ensure that the product was able for use by breastfeeding mums as many products are not safe in breastfeeding and we wanted to have a product that could be used by non breastfeeding and breastfeeding mums.
When all the reviewing, testing and nutrition analysis was completed it felt amazing to have such a brilliant product and this stacked up when we compared it to other products – and you can see the comparison table here which shows how superior the product is. We are especially proud of the low sugar content, high number of nutrients, high fibre and high protein content – plus it being dairy and gluten free.
Then came the taste testings! It was absolutely crucial to us to create a product that we were proud of and we didn’t want to have it loaded with sugar – like so many other similar products and we wanted it to be free from caffeine, artificial ingredients, be gluten free and be dairy free – plus we wanted to make sure it was safe if breastfeeding mums wanted to use it to lose weight and/or improve their health. So I think we ended up doing about 10 different taste testings with over a hundred mums which was a fun process too – but also time consuming!
I am a pretty impatient person at the best of time so the time it took to test, re test, and re test again nearly drove me MAD!!
Then when the formulation was finally ready, approved, tested and ready to go we then had the drama of the label printing being delayed! So patience was something I really had to learn which was hard as I was itching to
It has been a rollercoaster ride and I can now see why the process does take so long as there has to be so much research and development into the product and it was absolutely crucial to make the product the best possible and I am delighted with the results and am delighted at the positive feedback we have received from many nutritionists who have since reviewed the finished product – and you can read their reviews here.
