Last week I had a rotten day ….
You know the days where all the little things just snowball … I’ve had a nasty headcold that’s not improving, both kids were sick and arguing, an unexpected bill arrived, a million things to do around the house, things I should have dealt with … It just kept rolling on getting bigger.

I just wanted to cry.  And usually I try to stay as far away from social media as possible when it all gets too much, but it got me thinking about coping strategies, and how 2 years ago, a day like that would have sent me straight to the phone to get pizza delivered, I would have opened some wine and there would have been a lot of junk food consumed.
So I asked the fabulous Mums on the Lose Baby Weight Support Facebook Group, “What do you do to turn a bad day around?”
And the responses were FANTASTIC! So I’ve gone through them all and listed them here for you.
There is something for everyone, so print it out, stick it on the fridge, and next time a rotten day hits you, try one of these instead of opening the fridge door, or dialling the pizza shop.

  • Music – put on your favourite songs and have a dance
  • Coffee
  • Cuddles with the kids
  • Cuddles with partner
  • Exercise
  • Soak in the bath
  • Trashy TV
  • Colouring
  • Cleaning the house in peace
  • Reading a book
  • Fresh sheets on your bed
  • Herbal tea and a little bit of dark choc
  • Burn a scented candle or vaporiser
  • Long hot shower – even better with the lights off
  • Playing with the kids
  • Watch the sunset
  • Early night to bed
  • Romantic movies
  • Comfortable flannelette pjs
  • Listening to podcasts
  • A walk
  • A trip to Kmart
  • Standing barefoot or lying on the grass in the sun
  • Swimming
  • Pamper routine – face mask, hand scrub, body scrub, moisturise, paint nails etc…
  • A delicious LWB dessert, like a microwave lava cake
  • Call or text a friend
  • Scream into a pillow
  • Watching old videos of your children when they were little, or remembering funny moments

Well, there you have it!  Sooooo many fantastic suggestions.  So next time you’re having a rotten day, and you find yourself reaching for the baking choc chips, I urge you to read through the list and pick one that appeals most to you.
Even better, try something new, you might just find a new favourite.
