Hi fabulous and amazing mummies!
My name is Beth and I am very lucky to have been chosen to be a Motivating Mum for September! I am a mother of a (nearly) 5 year old boy and 16 month old boy/girl twins. Before I fell pregnant with my first, 6 years ago, I was about to do something about my weight, I wasn’t hugely overweight then, but I soon was.
When I was pregnant with my first, my weight went up to 120kgs, after I had him it dropped to around 105kgs, I was able to get it to 100kgs but I fluctuated between 100kgs-105kgs. I didn’t exercise, I hated going out in public to the pools or beach and because of that I feel like I missed out on so much with my eldest son.

We didn’t eat junk food all the time, the occasional ‘cheat meal’ but my issue was portion size. I would eat a huge meal and then have seconds. I love to cook and bake, but there was only ever my husband and I to eat it. When I went back to work I hated that I had to get ‘big’ clothes to fit, I was becoming more and more self conscious and loathed myself more.
When we fell pregnant with our twins, which was a huge shock, I told myself I wasn’t going to go crazy like I did the first time. Truth be told I couldn’t, I had no room, my weight at the end of the twins pregnancy was 114kgs. Their birth was incredibly traumatic and my grandfather passed away on the same day, I was a mess.
After, due to breastfeeding, I dropped down to 94kgs in a matter of weeks, my body went into shock from getting my milk up, so silly me decided I’d eat whatever to keep up my energy. My weight went up to 99kgs. I was in the worst depression of my life. I hated what I had done to myself. I was embarrassed for my husband too.
Looking on Facebook one day, an ad popped up for Lose Baby Weight, it was like an omen. I read into the program and thought I was dreaming. A program where I could still cook and bake and lose weight? A program where I didn’t have to starve? A program that was tailored for mums by mums? Bring it on! That was when I had my light bulb moment. It was time for me to get up off my big backside and get healthy and fit not just for my family, but for me. I wanted to live a long healthy life with my family but only I could do it. So I ordered the 28 Day Diet and Exercise book and signed up for the  July challenge.
I began my Lose Baby Weight journey on the 16th June 2014 and in that time I have lost 11.6kgs to date. I have exercised almost every day, I haven’t had any soft drink or juice in that time, cheat meals are a thing of the past, junk food doesn’t enter our house anymore and none of us miss it. Since starting this new lifestyle, I don’t get cravings anymore and I believe it’s because I am eating such a well balanced ‘diet’. I don’t like to call this a diet because it’s not, it’s a lifestyle change.
When I started I was still breastfeeding the twins a few times a day and didn’t notice a change in my milk at all. I have since been weaning them and not had one issue with milk, lack of or over supply.

The July challenge was lots of fun, new foods to try, new exercises. I loved pushing myself harder to get better results. For the first time in years, I am fitter and stronger then I have ever been.  My health is the best it’s been in years and I feel so much better about myself. I love seeing the numbers going down but also the measurements. I do Tae Bo at home, resistance bands training, walking and also the exercises from both the 28 Day Challenge and 28 Day Diet and Exercise book. I believe you need to change it up all the time and the same goes for food.
We love the food. It works for us all, if something doesn’t we have always been able to find a recipe that works or change something in it to suit us. It’s just that flexible. We love trying new foods and this program is perfect for us.
My motto at the start of this journey was ‘no excuses’ and I stick by it today. There is no excuse not to change your life, there is no excuse to not be the best healthy mum you can be. Everyone can do this, the support from the team and the group on Facebook is motivation for everyone, even those who have reached their goals.
I have 18.5kgs to go to reach my goal weight and I look forward to sharing my journey with you all.
If you haven’t joined up for the September 28 Day Challenge then do so, you won’t regret it!!
