I was browsing the internet yesterday and one of the most popular searches over the past few weeks has been “how did Miranda Kerr lose her baby weight”. I found this intriguing as as a mum myself who runs a business based on helping mums lose their baby weight I hadn’t even thought about googling this or searching for it. The reason I haven’t looked for it or looked into it is becuase Miranda Kerr is a Super Model. And God damned yes she looks INCREDIBLE after her baby and good on her for looking so hot to trot but for all us women and mums who are not super models how she lost her baby weight is kind of irrelevant as our bodies are 100% different to hers and no matter what she did we will not be able to emulate her success!
All you need to do is look at the body of Miranda Kerr or Gisele Bundchen or Heidi Klum and you will see their limbs and structure and shape is very different to most women. They are tall, lean and have very low body fat naturally. They were born this way and it is very easy for them to maintain this look and lose weight quickly. Yes they may face pressure from some fashion houses to lose extra pounds every now and again but by a normal persons view they have bodies to die for and provided they don’t eat a junk food diet 24/7 of Macdonald’s they won’t lose their shape. So when they have a baby and gain weight their body reacts differently to the weight than the normal woman who is gaining weight over pregnancy. The distribution of fat is different. Their metabolism is different and the way their body reacts to certain foods is different – plus they have help that non celebrity mums don’t have.
They are blessed with genes that we don’t have and in my mind it is like searching for an answer to “how can I look like Miranda Kerr” – the answer is you can’t! No amount of make up, facials or hair styles could replicate Miranda’s genes. She is a super model and has super genes which have ensured she looks absolutely amazing at all times. So there is no need to compare yourself to celebrities who are super models as you are not comparing like to like – I would be much more inclined to see how Mariah Carey loses her baby weight as she has a more normal frame for a woman but I am sure she will also have a lot of help in the form of a dietitian, a trainer and nannies to help her lose her baby weight!
As it happens for all those wanting to know what Miranda credits as the reasons for her quick weight loss, she credits breastfeeding for her weight loss and following a nutritious diet where – to quote:
“I also eat low GI, high alkaline foods, drink filtered water and eat mostly fresh produce and very little meat. I believe it is important to supplement our food to ensure our bodies have the nutrition required to remain healthy. This is even more important if you do not eat certified organic foods and certified organic fresh produce.”
So congrats to all the supermodels for looking so super post the birth of their babies – and to all non super model mums please don’t compare yourself and your weight loss with theirs as it will only give you unrealistic expectations and depress you. Instead focus on a healthy post pregnancy weight loss campaign that will get you looking hot to trot and feeling healthy in safe way that is also breastfeeding safe- check out our Lose Baby Weight plans to help you get started and read some great stories from non super model mums who have lost over 20kg of their baby weight
