My Name is Stefanie and I’m a mum to 2 beautiful boys who are 2 and 4. I have very little family support, relying solely on my partner and best friend.
About 18 months ago I’d hit almost rock bottom.
Being diagnosed yet again with PND and starting back on medication, tearing my ACL and meniscus in my knee and several bouts of mastitis, which eventually lead to an abscess and knee surgery.
This all happened in the period of 3 months. I was in a pretty negative place and a lot of my time was spent eating my emotions and watching tv.

I was already using Healthy Mummy Smoothies as I found them great for work and were the only ones I could find that were safe for breastfeeding. But a few of my mothers group friends were part of the 28 Day Challenge and the Facebook Support Group. Initially I thought the group would only be available to those on the program, but it wasn’t.
It was supportive of all mums and had a great team encouraging and uplifting its members.
I decided to join the Facebook group with no plans to join the challenge. But I watched all these amazing women’s transformations. Overcoming great obstacles to reach their goals.
If they could do it, why couldn’t I?
What got me over the line was wanting to improve my and my family’s lifestyle. I had never believed in dieting, thinking that cutting calories or food groups from your diet wasn’t healthy. I’d always believed in everything in moderation.
The more I researched the more the Challenge spoke to me. The more I thought about it, the more I realised what I would be getting for my less than $1 a day program.
So I signed up.
I decided to focus on fitness. I wanted to recover from my knee surgery. So I followed the Exercise plan and the Tone your Butt and Thigh Challenge. My physio was impressed with my improvement. I decided to try Parkrun (I had an inspirational friend recently start her running journey and I was in awe). Initially I just walked it until I got the ok from my physio.
Never did I think I’d enjoy running, I hadn’t done any since school. But the running community was so welcoming and friendly I enjoyed being a part of it. I finally got the go ahead to run and I’ve never looked back.

After my exercise was on track I integrated the meals into my life and was surprised at the ease of writing up your meal plan and shopping list.
I was making my family meals with more vegetables and legumes than I ever had before. I have loved being able to make them snacks that they enjoy, knowing that they’re healthy and not packed full of sugar.
I have been on the program for 11 months and lost 5kg. But most importantly I have gained strength, fitness, confidence and a trust in myself.
Even when I fall I know I can get back up and I know that tomorrow is a new day. I still struggle with PND and anxiety, but can feel myself gaining more control every day, and know that I can overcome it over time.
