Hi Gorgeous Lose Baby Weight Ladies,
So I was thinking all of this morning about the topic I could touch on with my weight loss blog this fortnight after I have now lost over 30kg on the Lose Baby Weight healthy eating plans.
Then, another beautiful mummy asked a question of “working mums” and I think I would love to share my best ways to lose weight tips and tricks on squeezing in time to exercise between, kids, husband, cleaning, cooking, work, etc etc….the list never ends!

I’m not going to sit here and tell you about how “easy” it is, I’m just going to let you in on a few things I have found that work really well, that may help you other working mums, or mums who are heading back to work and which I have found are the best ways to lose weight.
Well, I am a “working mum” with a 5 and ½ year old and 21 month old so it is definitely a juggle. I work at a gym, which you would automatically think “Perfect!” a great opportunity to work out, before and after shifts, right? Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
I feel guilty when I don’t get to exercise every day, as much as I would love to, in reality it’s just not going to happen for me. I always remind myself – 80% diet 20% exercise. When I’m struggling to get my exercise in, I just make sure my eating is as close to perfect as possible!
So, enough about my schedule, here are some of my tips and tricks to getting your healthy eating and exercise squeezed in amongst LIFE!:
Meal Preparation– I organise ALL of my dinners for the week BEFORE grocery shopping to make sure I have all of the ingredients. I go through the 28 Day Meal Plan and the Lose Baby Weight website recipe section to find “reheat friendly” dinner options. Example- Right now, I am cooking some roast vegies in the oven to add to some quinoa for a gorgeous salad that Hubby will BBQ some rump for, for dinner tonight.
Use the slow cooker! Honestly, I wish I could cook more dinners in this thing. It is a lifesaver! The Lose Baby Weight website has a whole section just on Slow Cooker recipes that save me once or twice a week. It’s great and generally- Hubby or Grandma, or whoever is helping out while you’re at work, doesn’t have to do much except serve it up!
Make Friends with your Freezer!- The freezer wasn’t just meant to hold ice cream, frozen berries and raw meat. Try cooking large batches of meals and freezing them or, buying a bulk lot of chicken breast, lean mince etc. and cooking it all in one hit, separating it into serves and freezing it. That way when you are in a time pinch you can defrost your already cooked chicken breast and make wraps for lunch or dinner! I also keep my eye out for oven baked fish on sale and stock up! It is a quick and easy dinner that Dad’s won’t mind popping into the oven, providing you make the salad before you head to work 😛
Go Crazy with Salad– The Lose Baby Weight website has a stack of different salad recipes so you won’t get bored or just lettuce, tomato and cucumber (although that is pretty delish!) Salads can generally be made ahead of time and in large batches so you can have left overs for lunch or even over 2 nights!
Exercise– Mornings that hubby is starting later in the morning I will get up early and do my work out before anyone else is up. I also have Sunday and Mondays off so we will all go for a family walk together on those days or I do a workout. On my night shift days, I generally will do a workout, either the Healthy Mummy DVD or I will learn some more Les Mills Body Step while my son naps before its time to get organised to head off to work. I just honestly slot it in when I can, some days that means doing push ups, squats, crunches, bicep curls, triceps dips while you are watching TV!
Split the house work up– Lose Baby Weight has suggested doing your workout in 10 minutes boosts whenever and wherever you can. I use the exact same principal for my house work. If the kids are entertained or napping, ill vacuum and do as much as I can before someone is pulling at my leg, sometimes which is 2 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes. Just break it up and remind yourself, it will get done, you just have little people to work around now
Enjoy!- Don’t forget to relax and enjoy the kid’s. The rest can generally wait. The dishes aren’t getting any dirtier; the washing won’t dry any faster once it’s on the line. So enjoy those gorgeous creations of yours because before you know it they will grow up and you won’t be “cool” enough to play with anymore ☺
My ideas may or may not help you at your house, but like I said to that beautiful mummy that inspired this topic. “You’ve just got to do what works for you and your family.”  Give some of these a go and tweak them if you need to, you might just get that extra workout in each week or save having to buy dinner on those time crunch nights!
Good Luck ☺
