The smoothie formula has not changed and still has the same great taste – but now instead of using fructose as a sweetener we now use a natural sweetener called Thaumatin.

What is Thaumatin
Thaumatin is a sweet protein which is isolated from the katemfe fruit found in the West African rain forests and is now commonly being used as a natural sweetener in food products all over the world. We experimented with other natural sweeteners (such as stevia and xylitol) but the taste was not as nice as with Thaumatin in.
Ensuring we had customers’ seal of approval was critical in going ahead.So after 3 different sample tests over 18 months with over 300 customers, we were delighted that 98% of mums that trialled the NEW 96% sugar free formula gave extremely positive feedback on the smoothies with Thaumatin as the sweetener.

Why the change
We are always committed to improving our products. Our smoothies were previously 88% sugar free and used a small amount of fruit fructose (3.7g per smoothie) to sweeten them which made them a fantastic and low sugar product – and why they have been so successful and loved by so many mums to date.
However, with more people choosing to reduce sugar in their diet or choosing to avoid fructose due to a fructose intolerance we chose to improve our product further by removing all fructose entirely. This further reduced the sugar levels in our smoothies, while all other ingredients in the smoothie remain the same. You can also read more on fructose here
Why less sugar in your diet is a good thing
Greater amounts of sugars will increase blood sugar level fluctuations, leaving you feeling tired and hungry once the blood sugar levels drip.
Reducing the total sugar in your diet helps to avoid this.
If more sugars enter the bloodstream and are not used as energy, they will be stored as fat.
3 reasons why it is even better for weight loss
- The new formulation has an extremely low sugar content, so that excess blood sugar will not be stored as fat.
- Reducing the sugar content also reduces the energy content of the product. Lower energy per serve means better weight loss overall due to less energy input.
- The fibre content per serve has been increased to allow for better bowel habits and a greater feeling of fullness

The smoothies are also now better value than ever before – with serve size increasing from 16 to 18 serves per tub.

Our smoothies are free of all chemicals, caffeine, fillers and artificial sweeteners and as well as being high in protein they are also high in fibre and contain over 24 vitamins and minerals.
The smoothies are not processed or refined and are also made in Australia. They are also wheat and dairy free.
Comparison
We pride ourselves in leading the way in creating healthy products and our Healthy Mummy Smoothies are very different to other ‘shakes’ that you will often find on the super market shelves. Our smoothies are created as a healthy meal alternative for busy mums who are too tired or busy to make breakfast or lunch.
