Are you trying to mix things up and also save some money while you lose pregnancy weight? It’s easy to get stuck in a routine of having meat with all of your dinners, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Having a night or two off the meat is a great way to try new foods and save a few pennies – as meat is often the most expensive part of a healthy eating recipe.
We’ve got stacks of ideas for how you can save money on your weekly shop here.
But if you’re not sure where to start for ideas on meat free meals, check out some of our favourites here.

Spinach, Mushroom & Ricotta Cannelloni

Lose Baby Weight - Healthy Cannelloni
If you love the idea of eating comfort food such as pasta while losing pregnancy weight, this is the recipe for you.
We love using ricotta in our recipes as it is naturally lower in calories than other cheeses; while the spinach (fresh or frozen is fine) and mushrooms provide folate, protein and fibre.

Chilli Lime Skewers

Lose Baby Weight - Healthy Vegetarian Skewers
This recipe uses paneer as the main form of protein. Paneer is a type of cheese (normally found near the feta and haloumi at the supermarket).
A bit like tofu, it is quite plain on its own but soaks up the flavours of this delicious spicy marinade. The best part is, the skewers are totally customisable so throw on whatever other veggies you have on hand.

Spinach, Ricotta and Basil Lasagne

Lose Baby Weight - Low Fat Veggie Lasagne
Lasagne doesn’t have to take hours to prepare. By going vegetarian you can quickly throw it all together (and use those pre-cooked lasagne sheets) and there’s no need to let it simmer like you would with a meat lasagne.
Kids will love this one as it’s really creamy from the ricotta and the Parmesan, but also packs a great flavour punch thanks to the fresh basil.

Mexican Veggie Nachos

Lose Baby Weight - Healthy Nachos
Just a few simple tweaks takes nachos from a calorie blow out to a healthy family meal.
We’ve upped the veggie content, replaced corn chips with grilled tortillas, switched the sour cream for Greek yoghurt – and it still tastes amazing. No one needs to know this is a healthy eating recipe, just tuck in.

Curried Cauliflower Parcels

Lose Baby Weight - Low Fat Vegetarian ParcelsThis recipe has been a massive hit in our March 28 Day Diet and Exercise Challenge. And with good reason – it’s absolutely delicious.
Instead of the usual pastry we have used Mountain Bread Wraps as they offer the crispy shell with much less calories. In fact it’s just 303 calories per serve in total.

DIY Baked Stuffed Sweet Potato

Lose Baby Weight - Healthy Stuffed Sweet PotatoFor a family friendly meal that the kids will enjoy helping with, why not try this.
Take 4 small sweet potatoes, wash them, dry them, drizzle in olive oil or coconut oil and bake in a 180C oven for around 45 mins until tender.
Allow to cool slightly, and then stuff with your favourite toppings. We love combinations like crumbled feta, mint, chopped tomato and diced olives – but you can work it however you like with this recipe.
Kids will love topping theirs with grated cheese and popping back in the oven to melt.
